First time there. Super Friendly and inviting. Told us about their ready to go foods and made to order foods. The Rice & Beans were Very Good and the Jerk Pork was Delicious and Tender. My compliments to the Chef. I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back for more.

The women working are so sweet and friendly, very welcoming. I got the Oxtail with white rice and gravy, with some Mac and cheese, the food is delicious! If you want real authentic Jamaican food, definitely stop by Island Rootz!

Outstanding, authentic Jamaican food! Been there at least half a dozen times already, and it never disappoints. My husband is obsessed with the oxtails and I love the jerk chicken. Make sure you get oxtail gravy on your rice, it’s incredible. The beef patties are soooo good. So happy to have a place like this close to home!

I’ve been waiting 8 years for a really, really good Caribbean restaurant. When I arrived, I didn’t realize they were closed. They actually opened back for me and took my I order. Everyone greeted me very warmly, which I really appreciated as it is rare to get warm, friendly service. I ordered the Oxtail with Rice & Peas and Veggies. Everything about this dish was delicious. Oxtail is one of the harder dishes to perfect and let me tell you the chef nailed it. It was tender flavorful and not salty like many other restaurants. Everything was fresh, including the Rice & peas. I can’t say enough good things about Island Rootz! I finally found my spot in CT so I don’t have to go back to NYC for Good Jamaican food! Please support this restaurants because you will not be disappointed!!

I would give them 6 stars if I could. Family owned business. The owner Viv is so kind and honest — She didn’t want to sell me the sweet potato fries because they were not up to her standards. The goat curry and jerk chicken were excellent, as were the plantains. Would go back again and again.

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant!! Food was fantastic, portions were large and the price was right. Atmosphere was welcoming and friendly. Sweet chili salmon was fresh and yummy; husband gobbled up Brown Stew Chicken. I only wish I didn’t live so far away – would eat there once a week!
