This is easily my favorite sushi restaurant on the east side, if not all of the Seattle area. The fish is incredibly fresh, and they carry a lot of wild varieties that other places don’t. But the thing that sets this place apart for me is the quality of the rice. It is so light and delicate and delicious!

Some things to understand: Izumi is a small restaurant with limited staff. They close fairly early at 8pm every night. Their food is great and service is lovely. Just be patient here (especially if you are on a wait list) and enjoy the traditional setting ❤️ we had the gyoza which is very flavorful filling.. we split a tonkatsu dish and I got a side hand roll which was very delicious. Last we tried the coffee jello! What a delicious experience.. try it it’s fun:)

Delightful! There is a gem of a dining experience beyond the plain exterior. I entered and immediately left Totem Lake behind and stepped into a charming traditional setting. We ordered the Friday lunch special and thoroughly enjoyed teriyaki salmon, tempura, sushi, miso soup, salad and rice. Service was perfect and food was prepared quickly despite all tables being full. I’m absolutely delighted with the thought of returning.

Huge selection of tempura, sushi rolls, and nigiri. Amazing service, and the quality of the food was top notch. Rolls are very large, and in general, the portion sizes are massive which is a good thing! Go here!

I ordered by phone for sushi, “ omakase (deluxe sushi plate)to go for lunch,paid $63. The sushi was terrible, the rice was too soft and too big. It was not made by an expert sushi man. it deluxe sushi was made by a kitchen helper to go and charged more than $60 for a one-person plate!! $20 sushi at the grocery store is much better than I $63 sushi from Izumi. This is the 2nd time I was disappointed….When I ordered Donburi at the Izumi restaurant, it was too much juice over the rice and I could not eat it. I feel that Izumi does not care about customers and bad service.
