We went at 2pm on a Saturday with a group of 8. The space is pretty large inside with a very spacious patio area as well. Sitting inside, the temperature was barely comfortable verging on too hot. There was a bit of a line that moved slowly. We found that one person serving the choice of meat(s), one person serving sides, & one at the till made for a slow ordering process considering the seating capacity. The menu was quite large serving an interesting brunch selection, meat plates with BBQ sides, a selection of sandwiches, a few other BBQ entrees like a potato & salads, and desserts. There was a good selection of sides. We tried several including cauliflower au gratin (fantastic!), mac & cheese (very creamy & delicious), green beans with bacon (maybe the best BBQ joint green beans I’ve ever tasted), tomato salad (everyone liked it), charro beans (just ok), and collard greens (lacked flavor). If we go again we will stick with the sides we liked as they were delicious & memorable. Our group ordered brisket, ribs, chicken, & sausage and all were cooked really well and were delicious in the ways BBQ meats are supposed to be. The Texas style sauce was not my favorite. It was too gelatinous & very sweet. There is a very good bar menu with beer, nice wines, & cocktails. If the AC had been a little better, the line little more efficient, and the beans & collard greens were better this would be a 5 star review. It is, overall, a great place that we will go to again.

It was my first time here so I’m not sure if this happens allot but they were sold out of bbq by 1:50 pm. Upon driving up, the place looks very nice. They have an outside seating area with love entertainment. We go inside and get in line checking out the menu. We were in line for probably 20 minutes. Once we were closer we noticed the people serving were looking in the meat locker that was nearly empty saying that they were out of certain items. We were 2 people away from ordering when someone came out and told a line of people,going to the entrance nearly, that they were sold out of bbq. I got a 3 meat plate with brisket, turkey and jalapeño and cheddar sausage, with green beans and potato salad for my sides. The brisket was sooo good, like meaty butter just melting in your mouth as you chewed. The smoked turkey was very good though I think the sausage was a little over cooked. The green beans had a great flavor, maybe because they were cooked with bacon. The potato salad was good but the sweet onion flavor kinda killed it for me. I got sweet tea to drink but switched to Dr Pepper due to the fact that the sweet tea was not sweet enough for me. All in all I would definitely recommend trying this place as I will most definitely be going again.

Very good cue. Brisket was moist and fork tender. The ribs were almost fall off the bone cooked to perfection. Sausage had a great flavor and good snap. The sides were also really good. Beans, mac and cheese and potato salad were all worth the money. The only complaint I had was getting the employees to clean up the bottles they kept their bbq sauce in. Would definitely go back.

If you want good Texas BBQ near East Downtown Houston, this is the place! My family has been in the area for over 44 years and this is some of the best BBQ we’ve ever had. The property has been owned by the same family since 1900. The brisket had good bark, a decent smoke ring, and world class taste. The turkey was tender, smokey, and light. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was full of flavor, and a little grease – worth it. The collard greens and cauliflower were prepared fresh, no canned mess here. The cost was typical for good Texas BBQ. The value is here. Will definitely return.

Loved the barbecue here. Great ambience with both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor was very texas style. The portions was good and the they have plenty of parking. Good options for the sides, brisket was my fave. Definitely recommend for a hearty meal.
