I’ll say that I’m still pretty new to southern food and every time I order catfish, I always get disappointed and just never ordered it… UNTIL my husband ordered catfish from J&M’s and this is probably THE BEST AND ONLY CATFISH I WILL EVER EAT! It was so fresh, cooked to perfection! I could not believe a catfish could be this simple and SO GOOD!!! So glad we got the large size order of catfish to take home.

We were out on a motorcycle ride. Googled BBQ and wound up here. What a treat. Staff was old-school small-town Texas friendly. Service was excellent. Brisket was on point. Sausage had the just right bite of kick. Mac n Cheese was creamy and good. Finished it off with pecan/chocolate chip pie. Wife says we will ride back.

J & M’s Hill Country Bar-B-Q in Gatesville TX is one of my favorite places to get the best BBQ in the area. I always like to stop in here when I am traveling the back roads to Waco TX. I had the fried catfish and pinto bean dinner plate – the catfish was cooked to perfection! Fresh cooking oil makes all the difference when frying up catfish. Cheers to the cook! My mother had the BBQ Pork Dinners and it did not disappoint. I love the home made BBQ sauce and I asked if I could purchase some to take home. Of course they said! I highly recommend eating here the wait staff is friendly and helpful. They even have a drive through if you are just passing by and want to give this place a try. I have had the BBQ sandwich on another road trip and it was perfect.

Great brisket. Great people. I did take-out this time . It was a fast, efficient operation. This place has a large menu. There’s something for every palate. But let me just get back to the brisket for a moment, The brisket here is exceptional. Fork cut, great crust, beautiful flavor.

First time there. Had pulled pork and beef sandwiches with onion rings. Rings were greasy and soft. Not a lot of flavor. Certainly nothing that would make me want to come back. If you just want something to eat and don’t care what it is then this place is fine. Waitress was attentive and caring. Ice tea was good. Prices were average.

Going into this place can turn my whole day around. The only thing I haven’t liked is the burgers through drive thru. They are a bit soggy by the time you get home. Dine in they are fantastic. From staff to food it’s all great!!! First place I ever went to was bare bones, they have a lot of improvement to get to this quality bbq. J&M is my place

This is some good bbq LOVEEEEEE the Cookie Monster cheesecake !! I had the chop brisket sandwich with pickles. Husband had the fried catfish with asparagus. YUMM ! Good customer service, good food. Had a drive through so you don’t have to get out the car ! Good place in town !
