Stopped in to J.W Chens for lunch. It is a quiet little place in South Bend looks to be family owned. Service was good. I just was not a fan of the food. Had hot and sour soup spicy beef and fried rice with an egg roll. Fried rice was not cooked all the way egg roll left a lot to be desired, and the beef was not very good. My wife had the beef and broccoli and was not a fan either.

Very good food. They have a variation of generals tsos chicken, much better than Tso’s. Owner creates me as I walked in, invited me to sit at her table and explained menu to me for my take out order. Got home and was blown away about how good it was. Governor’s chicken I think it’s called. Will visit again very soon. Very small place but larger tables, bring your friends.

I love this place I ordered some pork belly and cabbage it was very delicious but it was small portions for the price didn’t get much and shrimp egg foo young i was disappointed shrimp was tough i was unhappy he rushed into making it cause I eat it at the places i know the difference and it was a rushed job cause my bean spouts look like string i love bean sprouts on March 31,2023 few minutes before they close they was so kind and friendly I enjoyed my some of my food I will be back regardless if they was about to close with a friendly smile they prepared my food they were very nice and sweet and there place was clean with great parking, service was fast food had great taste but when I went back for the second time I ordered the pork belly and cabbage and the juice of it tasted like fishy like maybe some fish juice or something I was disappointed so I decided not to returned back I really liked the place guy was nice and young lady I am skeptical of trying anything else new because of the two differences I had that wasn’t good

Went for lunch today and the place is definitely way less busy then older days. My food was the same as when Jean was owner the crispy chicken was still delicious. Rice was not very warm so they replaced it no problems. The place could use a face-lift and definitely a good scrubbing, especially the bathroom. But our experience was not nearly as terrible as some of the reviews on here.

Very very good American Chinese food, and a decent amount for the $11.50 price for a dish. The staff was wonderful. I have traveled extensively all over China, and I would say that the sauces were as authentic as possible given what is available locally. Not a lot of Chinese vegetables of course, for the same reason.
