J. Wild’s is a new bar/bbq restaurant located at 614 Sutter Street in Folsom’s Historic District. The name is a tribute to the original first known commercial use of the land located in the north east corner of Riley and Sutter. The John Wild Stable and Livery dates back to 1902 and also included a blacksmith shop. J. Wild’s is a tribute to Folsom’s Historic District. Photos, artwork, and murals depict Sutter Street during the late 1800’s.
J Wild’s is brought to you by Eric Schnetz, the same owner of Chicago Fire.

Best BBQ in the area. Staff is always friendly and their food is consistently good. Their brisket is extremely flavorful; no sauce needed. Although their Carolina Tangy and Sutter Street Sweet sauces are quite tasty. Definitely worth checking out

This place is awesome! Very rarely do I break down and have to do an at the table review, but I’m still eating and just can’t take it. The wings are to die for and if you’ve never had smoked wings your missing out they are the absolute best and not many places take the time to smoke them. Also, the whiskey selection is fantastic, they have everything from $20 bottles up to pappy van winkle 23yr, this place is on my new list of favorites for sure. The place is super chill and Christine our server was the absolute BEST!

Drinks were great, nice bourbon selection, but had to change my order twice due to them out of pulled pork and brisket. Food is not what we expected. The bbq chicken plate arrived and the chicken pretty much looked boiled, no grill or bbq sauce. You just put the sauce on at the table but not what we expected.

Wow, what a fantastic place for some awesome food! We ended up here a couple weekends ago by accident, and we are so glad we did. Before I continue, I apologize to the employees there because I thought I had written down three of their names, but I guess I didn’t. We showed up about a half hour till closing, and they gladly sat us at a table outside (per our request since it was really nice out still). The server (a young lady i think named Kayla) was super nice and immediately sat us. They took our drink order and immediately brought them out. Our server (another young lady who i think was named Alexis) was very nice and professional. We ordered some Appetizers (smoked wings and fried zucchini) and both came out quickly and piping hot. Both were fantastic, but those smoked wings are something I would specifically come back for. For our main meals, we all ordered burgers (The Sutter, the Double Diner, and I got the Wedge). I requested to have brisket added to the burger, which may have been rung up incorrectly, causing a little confusion causing the owner (I think his name was James) to come out and talk to us about exactly what we had wanted. He was very accommodating, super friendly and very professional. He went ahead and brought me a piece of the brisket and then talked to us for a little while. He told us about the history of the restaurant and the prior owners. The building itself has been around since the 1800’s. It was very interesting and pretty cool how personable he was. Overall, it was a great experience with very good food and incredible service! We can’t recommend this place enough and will for sure be coming back!

This was out first time at J.Wild’s. the mood when we walk in was lively and the staff was very friendly. Our waitress for the night was Candace, who’s was amazing. She gave really great detail about the dishes I inquired about. Super helpful being our first time here. My husband chose the brisket and ribs. Very flavorful tender and moist. Melt in your mouth delicious. The corn bread is a must. I’d go back just for the cornbread itself. Perfection. Big thank you to Phil Hernandez (G.M.) who helped us with our experience. Not impressed with food service or atmosphere. I made a reservation for 6 people in the “fish tank” for a birthday dinner for my dad – he wanted BBQ beef, so this seemed like the place, right? When we arrived, they proceeded to seat us at a regular table by the entrance. When I mentioned I had specifically booked a table in the “fish tank”, I was told “oh, well you did that online, and it was already sold out”. Um, okay, then perhaps you shouldn’t allow people to make reservations online if they don’t mean anything? Since my dad was turning 80 (and my mom is 80 as well), the fish tank area would have been quieter (which was why I reserved it!).
