Nice people, and the food was pretty good. The upstairs looked pretty nice, but they had everybody eating in the basement. Paint peeling on the ceiling, no soap in the restroom. We won’t go back again.

I am sure the food is better than what experience. Food came out slightly warm. The presentation looked great, but Mexican food is not good when cold. Plus, there was a glitch with regards to the service. I don’t believe they knew who was cover what tables. May try it again, but there are others I will try first

From out of town and heard good things so my friends and I stopped in while bar crawling. We heard the music and figured oh this will be fun. Bouncer says $5 cover charge. Okay no big deal it’s probably worth it. Get downstairs and there’s one table of guys and a couple at the bar… That’s it. Paid a $5 cover just to have one drink and leave because it was so dead. If we’re going to be pretty much the only people in there how about we don’t charge a cover…

I ordered food to-go on a Friday night. When I got there the restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Which is odd for a restaurant on a Friday night. When I got home, the food was very cold and the rice was missing from my meal. I will say the person who answered the phone was very kind and lovely. I would be worried if this restaurant is going to around for long with the food quantity.

Great Mexican food. Pretty much in line with most other places of this price point. The restaurant is in the basement of the building along with a second bar. The decor was homey enough that it didn’t feel like a basement.

1st visit, Pedro took excellent care of us. She had the shrimp tacos, perfectly prepared shrimp. I had the BIG BIG chicken burrito, it too was delicious. Visit Jalapenos, located at the end of historic 3rd Street in Downtown Wausau, you’ll love it, we sure did

Good, consistent food. Good friendly service. Location is not the best due to limited visibility, but it is worth the effort to find the restaurant.

Used to be really good. Took a friend from out of town. It wasn’t very busy. 2 young ladies were hosting? We were seated immediately, were given menus and then nobody came to the table for about 10 min. The waitress took our order. My friend’s blended margarita came out like water and she mentioned the consistency. The waitress said they were having trouble with the machine but served the drink anyway. ” Do you want to wait another 5 minutes for a better one?” Yes please. Another 10 minutes and the drink came out, still not right but better. Waitress never came back, the 2 young continued to chat in view doing next to nothing. Someone from the kitchen came out with our food which was mediocre. The chimuchanga was the size of a frozen burrito. My grilled veggies were nice and my friend said her meal was bland but she would season it after she took it back to her hotel. Was pretty disappointing overall.

This is a fun and delightful restaurant, the staff have always been pleasant and fun to chat with. Drinks are drinks food is better/equal to most other Mexican for the area. Happy hours are better here than most. It’s a good downtown eatery.
