Best breakfast in town! (Best breakfast I’ve had in years!)

I had a lunch portion of chicken fried steak with fries after a 6 mi hike in Montgomery Bell State Park. It really hit the spot. They don’t have fountain drinks yet so they brought me a can of diet Dr pepper but I only needed one. My hiking buddy had Mama’s burger and he was very happy with that. Even though it’s about 4 mi it’s one of the closer restaurants to Montgomery Bell State Park. It’s very inexpensive for what you get and it’s not a fancy restaurant. The food is very good. My hiking buddy likes to go there for breakfast and gets a great meal for under 10 bucks.

I’ve always had a wonderful experience at Jeanine’s Cafe. Whether breakfast, lunch, dinner; dining or carryout, the food is delicious! And you get plenty of it. Not uncommon to see Jeanine walking around, personally checking on the needs of her customers. When you’re there it’s not like being in a restaurant; Jeanine and her staff make you feel as if you’re dining at her home. And although limited I believe only on Fridays; if you have an opportunity to experience the Red Fish etouffee- DO IT! Jeanine brings her Louisiana roots to Middle Tennessee in the most delicious way! If you leave this place hungry; you have nobody to blame but yourself.

I ate for the first time here a few days ago. I did a whole order of “The Mess” … amazing! I am a big gravy lover, and it was on point. I also ate a delicious fluffy pancake. My boyfriend ordered the French toast and a burrito, which he did wish the burrito was a little bigger it was still delicious. The staff made us feel very welcome.

Rhonda was our server & totally made the entire experience a great one for us! I have to be on a very restrictive diet right now, but she was so reassuring & kind about my requests. I didn’t get sick after eating there, and that’s a pretty big deal because eating out is pretty tricky for me these days. My burger was Gluten-Free (just meat, no seasonings, no bun/ wrapped in lettuce), and I was able to get a good- sized salad from the small salad bar that was very adequate for what I needed. I also loved that they had bottles of salad dressing rather than the tubs of it b/c it allowed me to read the ingredient list myself to see what I could have. I hadn’t thought I’d be able to have dressing or much of anything there that day (small local places in small towns aren’t generally known for being knowledgeable of dietary restrictions or willing to accommodate them), but I was very pleasantly surprised. My food was delicious, my burger was cooked well, and I left feeling satisfied. Well done, Rhonda & gang!
