I know it sounds funny but I came into this restaurant looking for something that was keto friendly so I figured a chile relleno would work.. however when I got it, it was breaded rather than cooked in the egg white batter..traditionally that’s the way its done. Was too bread-y for me..so if you didn’t know any better you’d probably think this is OK.. the relleno Itself was tasteless.. But I was able to taste was the red sauce that is smothered all over it.. I’m disappointed because I figure with the name like Jilbertos that it would be something authentic but this place is a lot more like a fast food spot. The cashier Also did not even acknowledge I was standing there while she prepared another person’s food. A quick I’ll be right with you would have sufficed. Atleast they had carrots and salsa that were decent..

This is a togo window only, it isn’t a seating restaurant. After visiting this location I find the quality and portion size far superior to the jilbertos in Rincon. Although there isn’t seating, it’s worth swinging in. The cook pumped my food out extremely fast, and the portions were explosive. The size of the burrito is what we used to get in Rincon before the prices went up and the sizes shrank. The flautas were huge, and delicious. The burrito was on point, and big! Just the way we always expected it from jilbertos. Did I mention the prices are also still reasonable and not covid inflated?

Very good food, prices seem to vary a little from day to day. I’ve ordered food from there several times and the food is always very good and they give you plenty of it. They only got my order wrong one time.

One of the girls there should legally be required to wear a helmet . At least 10 times this past 6 months she didn’t hand the order through the window . Leaving you just standing there and then she can’t remember your face from 20 minutes before .

Called order in and picked up food and did not have to wait. the only negative is that the prices of food have become expensive. So I can’t afford to eat out, but once a month. Sucks

We just got the carne asada fries and they were the best we’ve ever had! It was so big we split it and still had leftovers! Only down side is I found a flexible strip of metal in it… I’ve worked in many restaurants and understand this stuff happens. We eat here all the time and this is the only time anything like this has ever happened.

OUTSTANDING Food, Service and Atmosphere. Huge Carna Asada Burrito with Cheese and Pico De Gallo, no Guacamole. Didn’t expect so much. I was very pleased !!!

If you’re looking for “atmosphere ” this is not your place but if you’re after a great meal keep reading. As many long time residents of Valley Center know Jilbertos is located inside a small, local liquor/convenience store. Not glamorous but the food is solid, generous, meat filled burritos(my favorite) and lots of other fare on the menu. The girls at the counter are always friendly, food arrives quickly, piping hot. Great carrots, chipotle sauce, salsas at the little self serve bar. I’ve tried food at other locations (Escondido) not sure if they’re affiliated but the Valley Center location wins hands down.
