out. Started off with some amazing escargot sizzling in butter, the mussels in a white wine sauce was satisfactory. all of the appetizers were so delicious, especially the foie gras which was so good we got a second order. For the mains, we had their lobster risotto special, and the duck breast with a confit leg was fantastic, the sauce didn’t take away any of the flavor from the duck surprisingly. It was my first time having venison steak, the meat was firm and juicy. Don’t snooze on their desserts with everything being homemade, and my favorite was the creme brûlée being very creamy. Amazing spot to check out.

The quintessential beautiful French Supper Club. 1st they have been in constant operation since the 1940s. The food is expertly prepared, the quality and quanity is perfect. The service is as if your in a friends home who really knows how to take care of you and who loves doing it. The drinks are exceptional, expertly crafted. It’s a beautiful dining room with exceptional music at exactly the right volume. There are not enough positive adjectives to describe them. They are not inexpensive but for the amazing food service and atmosphere, few Michelin star restaurants can match them. Impossible to order a bad meal here. Parking on the south side of the building in the little driveway.

The Red Dog
Place is cute (as in old and dated) food is good (but not great). Heads up: they automatically add a automatic 22% gratuity, and they also tack on another 4% for any payment except cash. They scammed me this time, but there wont be a next time.

This place looked soooo cute on the outside and because of that it has been on our “to try” list forever. We finally went on a Thursday night and everything was just perfect. The place was quiet with 3-4 tables filled. We ordered the escargot, the trout, and the duck, and also got a free crème brûlée for dessert thanks to my husband’s NU wildcard discount. Every dish was tasty and delightful from start to finish. Price was decent with what we ordered but some of the specialty dishes certainly looked pricey. Overall, we had a very nice evening and will definitely be back.

Adorable space from the outside and a menu with so much promise. Sadly, the food was terrible. The crab cake benedict has canned crab that was nearly inedible. That was just one of the three disappointing dishes we had. The frites and the warm bread were both good, but that was it. Service was basic. Not even polite. I won’t go back and feel like they owe me a refund for my inedible $22 benedict.

Lovely little restaurant. Food was delicious. Service was a bit spotty. No beverage refills offered throughout our meal. Not even water. Only one server doing it all. I don’t blame him. Maybe management walking around removing plates and refilling drinks would’ve really helped the waiter.

We were visiting Chicago and spending time also in Evanston. I found this restaurant on line. It looked so quaint from the photos and the reviews were favorable. We brought our niece, who was performing in Evanston, to eat dinner with us. My husband I both ordered Steak Pomme Frites, I think this entree was $38.00 a piece. this entree looked so good in the photos online. The frites could not be made because there was a problem with the fryer. I had a sweet potato and my husband had mashed potatoes. The steak was of substandard quality, very tough. The sauce was good but could not make up for the poor quality of the meat. Our appetizers and dessert were very nice. All of the other meals that we had in Evanston and Chicago were very good. I was very disappointed with this experience. I would not choose to return.

This is such a gem! I do recommend it but don’t get the duck! The edges were burnt and the duck was a bit tough. My first bite was full of black char and it completely ruined the plate for me. The escargot appetizer was delicious. My friend had the mushroom risotto which was also delicious. The chocolate mousse cake and the key lime pie were heavenly.
