Jim’s Smokehouse BBQ Menu – Austin, TX

Type : Restaurant

Location : Austin, TX

Welcome to my Texas BBQ food trailer with top of the line meats, great sides and desserts!!
I grew up in South Austin and spent summers visiting grandparents in Rockport. “Papaw” (Jim Yerkes), owned a BBQ place named Jim’s Smokehouse. Working in the restaurant, I learned how he smoked the meats and found my calling.
In 1993 I graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in upstate New York and returned to Austin. I was the chef at Siena for several years, then left to raise a family. Now my kids are grown, and I’ve returned to my calling. I’m bringing back my version of Jim’s Smokehouse, a family-owned business with high-quality food prepared simply – using fresh ingredients and top-quality meats – served up with Texas hospitality!

Stopped in while on a visit to Lake Travis. Server was very friendly and provided some superb recommendations on menu items including listing what had just come out of the smoker that day.

This place was kind of “out of the way” BUT the reviews looked good and boy were they correct. Also the two gentlemen were very nice and showed excellent hospitality. People forget customer service is 90% of the “product.” My meal was superb and if I ever visit Austin again, I’ll be back

Great BBQ in what is one of the most Texas locations there is. You have three food trucks (BBQ and two Texmex) sharing a parking lot with a live bait shop and a gun store. The food is great. the staff very nice, picnic tables in the shade with fans blowing. Great place to grab lunch. I gave a 4 n atmosphere only because it was 105 degrees. Not their fault but no atmosphere is 5 star with 105 degree heat.

The brisket is well-made and tasty. That said, I’m assuming the over pricing is due to its proximity to Steiner Ranch. There are several places up and down 620 with incredibly reasonable prices and more traditional barbecue offerings. It seems like they’re trying to jazz up pulled pork and brisket with some fancy sandwiches and wraps. The guys who took my order were friendly and nice but, with the overpricing and the lack of traditional barbecue offerings, I’m gonna look elsewhere.

Wonderful food and service! I’m a vegetarian and can’t wait to go back because the sides were amazing. Definitely the best Mac and cheese I’ve ever had. My husband said the brisket and turkey were both top notch. This place is well worth visiting, even if it’s out of your way.

One of the best bbq brisket places I’ve ever been to. We got the moist brisket and it was fall apart and melt in your mouth tender. We also got the Mac and cheese and it was very flavorful and thick. Overall amazing food that is worth the trip.

Austin does have some great BBQ places but this one is pretty damn special!! And the best part is you don’t have to wait in a long line behind all them non-Texas natives to eat!!
