Jim’s is so great for a fancy night out. The fish dishes are always well cooked and seasoned. We always get the calamari!

Be sure to make a reservation! The serving staff are superb as always, but Jims is just overwhelmed and understaffed. Plenty of seating available just not enough service. Was informed at 5:30 wait would be 25 min. Here we are 2 hours later running up the bar bill waiting on food. Would recommend only with a reservation!! No matter what time, and don’t be in any rush!

Underwhelming. Finally decided to try this place on my birthday (Tuesday night – maybe weekend chef is different?)

We’ve been to Jim’s on several occasions and have loved it. Last night was an awful exception. The place has clearly gone down hill physically. My first shock was a brown bug that scampered out of my napkin; our waitress shrugged her shoulders and made light of it. The service was slow (it took 45 minutes for us to be able to place our order); we waited another 45 for the bill at the end. A table of what were clearly regulars at the next table (the proprietor came by to chat them up) were eating their main courses before we even ordered. They had arrived after us! We complained on several occasions, but were brushed off with quick “we’re sorries.” This even after we mentioned the bug. We were served a second round of drinks without asking, which we assumed were complimentary because of the slow service, but were charged for them. At the end I questioned our waitress about the bill and attempted to explain to her why we were disappointed with the service. Several regulars at nearby tables immediately came over to our table, feeling a need to defend the waitress. I asked them to mind their own business; one of the men hurled profanities at me. When we turned to leave, a large group of onlooking diners applauded with disdain. The tribal reaction was shocking and scary.. I have never felt so humiliated, simply for pointing out shortcomings.

This was our second time here. It’s graduation weekend so they were very busy tonight but the staff handled it gracefully. Everything was delicious. The calamari comes with a Sweet Thai Chili sauce which is different than most places in town. The garlic bread comes with thick cut slices of bread and it’s baked perfectly. I had the Salmon with shrimp and a lobster cream sauce with rice pilaf. It was good but a little pricey at $32 in my opinion. It came with 3 medium sized shrimp. Over all great experience and we need to work Jim’s into our regular rotation of restaurants. One thing I will note is that their flatware seems a bit low quality for a fine dining restaurant.

Best stake house in Bloomington/Normal, without a doubt! I have dinned here multiple times, it never disappoints. The cuts are excellent and grilled to a precise point.

A friend recommended this place while we were in Bloomington. One of the Sunday night specials is pan fried chicken. I love me some good chicken, and this was some of the best I’ve had in ages. Got it with a baked potato (perfectly cooked, but only ate a couple bites). So, I believe most of their veggies are fresh, but the green beans they have with the fried chicken special are canned. These were GREAT green beans, like the homemade canned ones my grandmother used to make. Full of flavor and bacon, don’t be deceived by the looks! My wife had the salmon on cedar plank and it was great. We’ll definitely go again, especially on Sunday night. We sat at the bar, and Mary Jo took great care of us!

Forboding on the outside, pricey and delicious on the inside. I’d have rated it 5 stars except we weren’t greeted at the side entrance when we arrived, the maitre’d wasn’t wearing a mask once we tracked him down, and the washroom (see below). All the other wait staff were wearing a mask, however.

We set reservations several days in advance for a birthday dinner for two. There were clearly several nice large square tables for customers and we were sat at the tiniest and most cramped round table in a dark corner with no candles. We asked for another table, seeing that there was at least 4-5 larger tables with candles, and we were stuck in the only other small round and cramped table in the building. Mind you, other couples were getting sat at the larger tables. It was clear age discrimination. Most, if not all were middle-older aged individuals. Super disappointing. We walked out. Will not be returning.
