Great find using Google Maps. This small town main street style diner is a total blast from the past but in a good way. Everything about it is a tribute to all main street diners especially the friendly staff. I am sure they knew we were not locals yet they treated us like locals. The food is very good with large portions. The coffee was great and my cup was kept full. The restaurant is in an old store front but is well maintained and kept clean. You can tell it is a local favorite.

Service was sweet but slow, partly because they had several big groups. Eggs were OK, bacon very good and the breakfast bowl needed some juice so we ordered gravy to put on it. The cinnamon rolls were good. Staff was sitting at a booth by checkout stand on smoking side. Might be why they were so slow on waiting on us

Very nice and quaint place. I broke down, and while waiting for repairs, I was told to check them out. I’m glad I did! The service is what you expect in a small town. They let me stay as long as I wanted while my truck was being fixed. Sabrina and Riley went above and beyond to be sure I was comfortable. I’ll stop here even when I’m not broken down.

JJ’s is AWESOME! It is everything I want in a diner. It was like taking a trip into my childhood. I loved it. The food was hot, came at just the right time, was enough to feed an army, and absolutely fantastic.

Very delicious breakfast. One of the best cafe breakfasts I have ever had. Great service also.

JJ’s offers a variety on the menu, both for breakfast and lunch. My husband really likes their broasted chicken. Decor is a bit dated, but they do have division of smoking and non smoking eating areas including seperate entrances. Wait-staff is always friendly. Portions are on the large size.

My daughter thought she, her husband, my grandson, & my sister (who lives in a nearby town) could meet my wife & me here for breakfast. None of us had been there before so sounded good to try out especially with its appropriate name. My wife & I got there a little early plus my daughter, et al, were running late. I was greeted by a very friendly young man who said we can pick a table wherever we liked (plus interesting & nice that the place has separate smoking & non-smoking dining areas that are well divided so no smoke was drifting in our area). During our wait for the rest of our party to join us, our server kept my coffee mug full along with my wife’s tea. After everyone else arrived, our server took our orders & actually noted the time on her handwritten order pad. It only took around 15 minutes for our food to be brought to us. Amongst us we had quite a variety of different items & they were all very good. I had the House Omelet with hashbrowns, & rye toast and my wife had their Breakfast Special which included biscuits & gravy, eggs cooked to order, fried potatoes, & sausage. Needless to say she had to get a box for her leftovers (I, having a big appetite, finished off all of my rather tasty repast). I would definitely recommend JJ’s Down Home Cafe plus it’s nice to be in old fashioned downtown Odessa so you can enjoy the day visiting the various shops down its main drag of 2nd St.

We had a great breakfast, great and friendly service. They have smoking and non smoking areas which I thought was nice, but my real question is, where do the Philadelphia Eagles fans sit?

Wished I could give it 0 stars. I don’t know honestly how you can screw up biscuits and gravy. Plus my daughter’s grilled cheese came with these disgusting tater tots. The restaurant is filthy and dirty. The whole place needs to be gutted and redone.
