We were visiting from Seattle and staying across the street from the Buzz Mill so we spent a lot of time there. We wanted to get barbecue while we were here and JNL was conveniently right there so naturally we tried it. It’s super good and chatting with the owners a bit you can tell they really do it because they love it. The smoked pickled jalapeños are amazing!!!

Came during their Thursday rotating burger special! This makes my top ten burgers in austin! Crispy edges smashed burgers, toasted bun, great meat to bun ratio, homemade bacon. So much flavor! And the fries complemented it well!

The pit master, Ben, knows exactly how to make these meats MELT IN YOUR MOUTH. The brisket is fire and has so much flavor. Plus the co-owner, Joe, is super friendly and authentic. This place deserves 100 stars for the food, music and vibes!

Love my BBQ. When we travel I like finding local places, not tourist BBQ. Looked up JNL and wanted to try it out. Was not disappointed. The brisket was on point. The Cajun butter turkey was so tender and flavorful. I loved the sausage too. It had a great snap when you bit into it. Skip the tourist joints and find some real Austin BBQ next time you visit. I will be coming back for sure.

Top notch! For me the brisket was top 5. Turkey was best I’ve ever had. Al Pastor ribs, pulled pork, and mac n cheese were all top tier delicious. None of the meats needed sauce, yet the sauce they make is unique and lovely as well. Ben and Sarah are doing a fantastic job, you can taste the passion and dedication to the craft. Highly recommend!

One of the best (if not THE BEST) bbq we’ve had in Austin. Got brisket sandwich and pulled pork sandwich, and it was so delicious

Great Hidden gem. No need to wait like down the street. Brisket, turkey and sausage was on point. Great amount of seasoning and taste! The free sample of the coffee & chili rubbed pork tenderloin was exquisite! .

We were visiting Austin for the weekend and had planned to go to la Barbecue, but the line there was too long to stand and wait in after just finishing a long hike. We looked up what other good barbecue spots were nearby and came across JNL, and I am very happy we did! The brisket was melt in your mouth tender, the ribs and pulled pork were both tender and packed with flavor as well, and the sausage had a little kick to it which I liked. I don’t think that la Barbecue or many of the big name barbecue places in Austin (or anywhere else for that matter) can compete with the deliciousness of JNL, and we will definitely return on future Austin visits! So so good!

Tried this place when it opened at around 11, no wait, no line. Which is surprising b/c the Al pastor ribs were awesome, great flavor and very unique. I also got brisket and it was great as well. If it was a blind taste test you would not be able to differentiate it from other big local places. Overall, I’m surprised there’s not more hype for this place.
