As a disclaimer, I didn’t order any chicken. Just a cola and pie in a jar. The cola itself came in a reusable cup and the pie in a jar came in a canned jar. The pie in a jar was pretty tasty but I doubt it’s worth for it’s cost. The prices were rather steep for my taste and it is likely we’ll not be returning. The drive through seemed slow paced but relaxed despite us being the only car in line at the time. 4/10

The food overall taste great and the service was amazing. The only reason for the 4 stars is because of the portions. I ordered the lunch special which has two 2 tenders (jumbo tenders), a drink, and a side for $11.44. I am a skinny guy and it did not fill me up, but overall it’s good and would recommend.

Went there in a group of five, first time for everyone. It was around 1pm and they only had a few people, so originally, I was concerned. I believe my meal alone (drink not included) was ?11.99? Anyway, you order at the register and they hand you a number to take to your table. Food was done rather quickly and it was all nice and fresh. I had the 3 tenders and fries with ranch and spiced honey (I paid for an extra sauce, you get one with the meal). Oh, and the drinks! They seem to have an association with a soda company. It wasn’t Coke or Pepsi, it was better (in my opinion). Sadly, they only have one flavor choice for those of us that can’t have sugar. However, they also have sweet or unsweetened tea there. Was afraid to try it at first (most places rarely have good unsweetened tea; its drank less commonly and there for usually skunks). To my delighted surprise, it was good! Okay, back to the food. Chicken was the best battered and fried chicken I ever had. It was flavorful and moist. The ranch I used was pretty tasty and the spiced honey (Buffalo sauce and honey mixture) wasn’t bad either. Probably will just get ranch next time though, it was the better of the two. Fries were shoe string style (my least favorite style), and I ordered them as garlic parm. flavored. Despite the style, they tasted pretty good. Dessert… went there for the Nutella poppers (was advertised online) but, that location no longer does those (said some in Indianapolis may still do so). All they had was, Pie in a Jar. Now, I thought this interesting and chose red velvet (was interested how they made it into a pie). Well, they didn’t, it was cake, and mostly cake. I was missing the icing, there wasn’t enough to give it that expected red velvet cake flavor. Though the cake was done well, I was left disappointed. Dessert was my only complaint, and it didn’t stop me from giving them a 5 star. Everyone else also loved their food, and the soda. Unfortunately, I don’t know exactly the pricing. One of the people with us decided to pay for everything. I also admit that I forgot to take a picture at the arrival of our food and started eating. So, sorry for the pictures, had to make do with what was left at the time of my realization. Anyway, everything (minus dessert, it was not) was great. Definitely plan on going again.

Very pleased with the vegan/vegetarian options! The fries are great! Also, I love the varying spice choices. The server was thoughtful, pleasant and attentive. The only sad thing is that this location never seems to have the cards you get for eating the spiciest level. But otherwise, a nice place to eat.

Joella’s Hot Chicken looks fantastic. My food was delicious. They did an amazing job on the build-out the building looks fabulous. They really did a good job with this building. Also from what I’m told they have some of the best fried chicken around. I can’t wait to visit this place. Thank you for bringing this to Bloomington.

Awesome! I love hot chicken and had heard about JoElla’s but the reviews were concerning. Let me tell you, ignore the reviews at this location. The chicken was great, the spice level on the Hot was perfect for somebody who likes spicy food, and the Mac and Cheese was cheesy and thick. The Big Wings are just that, good sized wings. I had three big wings and Mac and cheese and the wife had tenders and fries. Total was less than $30 so the food and the prices were great. The staff was super friendly and the restaurant was clean. We will absolutely be back when we are down this way.

The food is pretty good, and the chicken had great flavor. The portion size is ample, you definitely won’t leave hungry. There are only 2 options for kids meals though, which is disappointing. If you’re going to have dessert there, the banana pudding was delicious – highly recommend! The souvenir jar for the dessert is a great touch.

Great spicy chicken and waffles! Update 1 year later. The Bloomington location has really gone down hill. I’ve been here twice in the last month. The place is disgustingly dirty. Service is slow. Drinks are out of order. The bathrooms put any truck stop to shame they are so nasty. Other than that its great.
