Sorry for the late review. We had reservations at Joe’s crab shack Kemah Boardwalk for the annual Christmas boat parade. Quite a number of vessels, all covered with beautiful Christmas lights. The food was absolutely fantastic. Quite typical with Joe’s and any Landry‘s operation.

Very bad restaurant experience. First time in Kemah Boardwalk and was enjoying the lovely day. we decided to eat at this restaurant. We were inially directed to their frontdesk personnel. There was a line and we were told wait time is 20-30 minutes. We gave our number so he can text us, and asked if we can wait somewhere. He pointed us to a chair near the bar. Already thirsty and hungry decided to order drinks and food we planned to transfer once a table was ready. It was already more than 30 minutes, so I again approached said personnel. He said that he thought we were going to eat at the bar which technically was not the bar but a serving area.

Great menu and cocktail choices. Nice beer selection. Got the old bay steamed crab legs, with three choices. The corn on the cob was delectable. Spouse got fish n chips and once we had the malt vinegar, it was quite tasty. We chose this restaurant out of the whole boardwalk because they a wide variety of steamed crab legs. Bubba Gump did not.

Order was taken immediately, drinks were out quickly, and the food was to die for! The tables outside were the best especially since that was my husband & I first time in Kemah. We’ll be returning a second time with our kids soon!

Pretty sure I got food poisoning from the Shrimp Sampler. The reason I believe this is because I ate the same food as the rest of my group for the entire weekend and this is the only place where I had something different than everyone else. It was Monday, no more than 5 tables occupied and I counted about 3 servers. Our server sat us and after a solid 15 minutes we had to inform someone that no one had come over to even provide waters. Once the server arrived is when we realized it was the guy who sat us.

Food was aweful. Peel and eat shrimp was over cooked. Ask for it cold, came out hot. Lobster bisque was like jello and the grilled chicken salad I asked for didn’t have the chicken. Waitress brought it out separate 20min later in one whole piece and no silverware. I asked she take it back and have them cut for my salad since I never got a knife, much less a fork. By the time I got to eat it, the chicken was dry. We also sad outside where they moved all the dirty dishes from the previous patrons that sat at our table directly next to us on a wooden ledge that invited all the seagulls to feast next to us. What happened to Joe’s Crab shack? What happened to Kemah boardwalk? Super disappointed with our entire boardwalk experience today. I’ve lived in the area for years. Just a really big waste of a beautiful day.

Our meal was delicious. Unfortunately we felt like we were an inconvenience to the hostess/wait staff. Let me explain. When we went in no one was at the front to great us, then when the girl that walked up she wasn’t very knowledgeable. She made the remark she didn’t know what the seating was for the day. She went to find out. While she was away another employee walked up and said to set ourselves. So we did. At lease one table that was seated after us, got drinks and we still had not even seen a waiter/waitress. I finally got the attention of a waitress going through. She made the remark that it was her table but would serve us. Even though we were not in her area she helped improve our experience.

We waited over an hour for our food after we ordered. My son ordered a po’ boy & couldn’t even eat it. The bread was so stale that it broke apart as he tried to eat the 1st bite. The fish was also supposed to be blackened. There was no seasoning on it at all. My son said it was tasteless. Our waiter would disappear for big chunks of time and then not come by our table when we did see him. It was like he was intentionally avoiding us because our food was not coming out. We sat without refills. My husband finally had to wave him down to even get the bill! When he asked if my son needed a carry out for his sandwich I told him that he couldn’t eat it. He said he’d talk to the manager. The manager never even bothered to drop by. This experience has completely turned me off of Joe’s Crab Shack. We will not return.

Anytime our family come to Joe’s we are greeted by the most friendly staff!! Angel and Bailee are great managers, and they always ensure each guest is well taken care of. The servers at this location are great as well!! Caitlin recently served our group, and she was on top of EVERYTHING. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
