Wow. Wonderful Deli. We stopped for lunch here on two different days. I had the bowl of chili and a pastrami poboy with spicy mustard. The chili was all meat. Fine grind like a hotdog topping. No frills. It was fantastic. Today I had the gumbo. It was very tasty and quite filling. Nice pieces of sausage and chicken. If I return to Houston, I will eat here again.

Ordered a double patty melt with bacon and it was pretty incredible lol I don’t even like rye bread and it was really good. Bacon, onions and mushrooms were also ridiculously good. I also got a free drink while I waited! (It may have been a comp from grubhub goofing up but I’ll chalk it up to a birthday surprise! The wait wasnt anything either) Free ice tea and and new killer food spot! Go me!

I found them out through the news. The service was great but I have to say the food needs seasoning. It tasted fine but it would have been amazing with some salt and pepper at least. I kept putting hot sauce on it just to make it taste better. I got the famous cheesesteak. I believe they have the potential to be great with just some seasoning on the food.

I feel like I shouldn’t even share how good this place is and keep it a hidden gem. Local Family owned and operated, and Joe’s golf memorabilia make it partly a mini golf museum. IMO The Anaheim Chicken is arguably the best grilled chicken sandwich in Houston, if not the Universe.
