Really good neighborhood style, cozy mom and pop, BYOB Italian restaurant. Everything that I’ve ever had has always been very good, especially the different soups and chicken and/or veal parmesan. Chicken marsala is excellent also. Mini cannoli for dessert is a perfect size. Service is friendly and the bread, butter and roasted peppers that come with the meal is just plain delicious.

I worked at Bruno’s with a waitress that worked there a long time ago and ever since she turned me on to them, I’ve been ordering from there ever since. The only place that have mussels and steamed clams, that are the best in the city… make sure it’s 12th and Wolf. There are others, but nothing like this place.

5 star rating for the overall experience, super friendly, FAST service. It’s BYOB so be sure to note that if you’d like alcohol with your meal. Conveniently located near the house, food was good and plentiful, they said the plates were big and they were, their peppers are

We love this little gem of a neighborhood spot and have dined there on many occasions. The food is consistently delicious, the service always friendly and you can’t be the prices for the quality of the food. Some dishes we’ve had that stand out in particular are the Flounder Francaise and the pork/broccoli rabe sandwich. Our friends who we took there said the flounder was the best they’ve had of that dish. Soup is always good. BYO helps keep the price manageable. Most entrees come with salad and bread, with their housemade peppers. We haven’t tried too many desserts as we are usually very full from our meal! We highly recommend Johnnie’s if you are looking for great food in an unpretentious setting. Donna & Steve

This was my first visit here. My friend had treated me to a birthday lunch. Our server was great. She made suggestions and my friend chose crabcakes & excuse my spelling but I had roast pork with provolone cheese & Brazilian a Rabe. Sorry. My sandwich was mouth watering. I love a sloppy sandwich. My friend let me taste her crabcake and you could just tell they were freshly made. We had these cute little Cannolis and our server came over to join in a round of Happy birthday . May I add they were cheese Cannolis & absolutely delicious. They gave us all the time in the world. It was much appreciated.

Never had a bad meal. One of the last TRUE Italian restaurants left in south Philly.

very dry, tasteless, it wasn’t horrible but it was tasteless and dry, the garlic bread was burnt and dry and salads were okay but the sauce was gross

We were in South Philly doing a delivery and searched for Italian food nearby. Most places were upscale. We were just getting off work and wanted something more comfortable. This place is amazing. Food is delicious and cooked to perfection. The staff are super friendly, nice, professional and amazing. I would definitely recommend this for anyone nearby.

Waiting for our food order of 127 bucks, was really looking forward to it. 1.5 hours later no food arrived. The lady who answered the phone was very nice and apologized but bottom line is we never got our order. It sounds like the delivery driver took it to the wrong place. Really disappointed, we wanted to give this place a shot.
