Johnny Costa’s Ristorante Menu – Palm Springs, CA

Type : Italian restaurant

Location : Palm Springs, CA

From the classic Italian music to the candlelit tables, the nostalgic atmosphere at Johnny Costa’s Ristorante feels like traveling back to mid-century times. It’s no wonder Frank Sinatra was once a regular at this fine Italian restaurant, where his favorite juicy steak & clam dish are named in his honor. The Costa family continue the legacy of late chef-owner Johnny Costa, who was pals with Sinatra when he moved to Hollywood from New York in the 1960s, a decade later served as the singer’s personal chef at his desert home. Costa’s pedigree lives on in his legendary recipes, including his veal saltimbocca & classic cioppino. Voted Best Italian by Palm Springs Life Readers!

Veteran Neapolitan-Italian destination serving thin-crust pizzas, seafood & pasta in cozy surrounds. Based on 496 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.6 stars. Price $$

Nice red sauce Italian if you are in the mood for such stuff. I had a craving for spaghetti and meatballs. And that’s what I got. The pasta wasn’t fresh or anything, it was fine. Really enjoyed the tasty tomato sauce, and the two meatballs were also good. REALLY enjoyed the fried mozzarella appetizer. Do yourself a favor with that one and some extra bread for the table, which I gotta call out. The focaccia was delicious.

Once you have eaten at Johnny Costa’s, you’ll know truly what Italian food tastes like. The calamari fritti is perfect. Nothing is chewy. It’s full of taste. Served with marinara or cocktail sauce, it’s amazing. I prefer the marinara sauce.

Walked in on Christmas Eve without a reservation on an off chance we might get a table. They went out of their way to get us seated. Just amazing. This was seriously some of the best Italian food that we have had this side Italy. Our server Ferial was outstanding and accommodated our every request with a pleasant smile. Well done JC’s. Bravo!!

This restaurant is awesome!! Excellent foods and service. I highly recommend! We ordered gluten free pasta and was great. If you are not told that gluten free you wouldn’t notice. Desert was delicious too. Everything we ordered was wonderful. Thank you John for taking care of our table. You made us happy and great night. We definitely come back!

Great little spot for Italian food! I had the lobster ravioli which was really good. And over all the food was enjoyable in our party of 4. Our server Ferial was very good and personable. The overall service was a bit disorganized; we had to ask for bread for the table, then we had to ask for butter, and oil for the bread. Then we had to ask for place settings. Small issues overall but it undermined the overall experience. Still we definitely go back.

I’ve been to Johnny’s a couple times now over the last decade and it never disappoints. The food is exactly what you want out of classic high end Italian fare. The service is excellent and personable, and the atmosphere is lively while cozy and classic. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

This place had a very nice modern decor and the food was delicious! The crowd was fodder for stories. It was a scene man. We laughed quite a bit, delighted by all that was going on around us. Some of the locals are wacky and wonderful.

Chose restaurant based on reviews. All started well, ordered drinks, appetizers, and dinner. Service was very slow but we were OK with that, appetizers were NEVER delivered, kept asking if they were coming out soon, dinner served, food was good. We asked what happened to appetizers and the manager and server both scoffed at us. No solution offered for their error. Will never go back to a restaurant that has such low standards for customer service.
