Our go to date night when grandparents babysit because we can always get a reservation & walkable – conveniently located on Ventnor (main street of Margate). Food is consistently good & prepared as requested (calamari, seared ahi entree, all steak, lamb chops). Service is mediocre. That said, they are always packed @ prime dinnertime & still efficient – try to get tables in and out quickly. More friendly and formally trained wait staff would make experience more enjoyable. Majority of staff seem unhappy & stressed out – some are quite vocal about it, especially at the front bar. Skip cocktails and opt for beer or wine. Last 4 times we have been there, the cocktails have been terrible so, we order beer and wine and make our own cocktails at home.

Horrible dinner tonight. If it weren’t for the amazing lolipop lamb chops appetizer this review would get one star. The Demi glaze was absolutely amazing and a saving grace. Service was super slow (took about 15 mins to even get to us for drinks-place was barely crowded. Then with our waitress more worried about standing next to all of the guy coworkers than actually serving us, didn’t get a bowl with our mussels for the shells, everyone was completely out of drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) all night. Our lolipop lamb chops came one was ordered medium rare one was ordered medium. The food runner didn’t even have a clue which cook on which was what, our waitress did not ask once between 4 of us getting appetizers and entrees how our food was. The mussels were completely sandy and every single bus girl & boy along with food runner made us feel like they just dropped the food and didn’t care beyond that. French martini was really good, but a-shame because we would’ve kept drinking and ordering food had the service been better! Left with such a bad taste in my mouth tonight where I actually found myself wanting to say something to a manager, but decided not to. Sitting here now and had to get all of this out, really felt like the female waitresses and all workers were more wrapped up in their Own co-workers and flirting than serving and leaving a positive experience !

Generally have a good dinner experience here however they for brunch they forgot the shrimp I ordered on my salad, forgot my fries, and bloody Mary’s were very watered down. Minor issues but waitress was not very apologetic either. Not up to the usual standard I have come to expect from dinner service I’ve had here.

I had the worst meal and dining experience I can remember. First, the bread was ROCK hard, totally stale. Not what you expect in any restaurant let alone an Italian restaurant. We sent it back, and the replacement bread was slightly softer but still totally stale. Even if fresh you could tell this was very cheap, poor quality bread. My adult daughter ordered lobster mac-n-cheese. It came simply as dry short bucatini pasta noodles with lobster meat – NO CHEESE in a mac-n-cheese dish! The brussels sprouts appetizer we ordered so overcooked it crumbled if you picked it up with a fork. I ordered pork chop, with a “honey glaze.” This is when I finally had to complain. The glaze left my lips burning and a little watering of the eyes (which I like very much when I order Chinese or Thai food). They put the completely different seasoning on. I will add that some of the food for our party of 8 was good (my wife’s lobster ravioli and my son’s lack of lamb). My final complaint was the music. SOOOO loud we were literally screaming at each other to have a conversation. Horrible atmosphere. By the way, I am 64 years old, and this is the first time I have written a negative restaurant review, but this was shockingly bad.

Great place, service, and food. Street parking only…we got lucky but factor that in. Biggest shrimp cocktail ever seen. Great drinks. Might be pricey for some. Not a kids place, better for older teens and adults.

The AC must have been not functioning the Saturday night we were there (weekend after July 4) it was extremely warm inside to the point where we were sweating at the table. The food was decent but the drinks and service were mediocre. Would not recommend.

It was good. Food was 4/5. Kinda plain. They needed AC. Badly. I’d go back though. But can you fix your HVAC system?

Johnny’s was an absolutely incredible experience. The moment we walked through the doors their hospitality service was top notch. All of our dinners were amazing, and service was so fast. Our server was very quick to getting everything we needed and I couldn’t be more happy with how my wife and I were treated. I highly recommend this place to anybody that’s looking for an enjoyable night out!!

This was our first dinner experience at Johnny’s Cafe, and we left feeling very contented. The price was $60 a person, and that seems quite in line with today’s dining out prices. Our Server was fantastic. He started us off with a bread basket and a small plate of sweet green peppers… a nice touch. Our entrees were delicious!! My wife had the Seafood Lasagna and raved about the taste. I had the Ziti Bolognese and was very pleased with my selection. The plus on our meals was that the portion were large enough for us to take home leftovers. The beer and wine prices were appropriate for today, and we listened to music by The Rat Pack, and that topped off the evening. A very pleasant first dinner experience.

The menu has a nice variety and is good. The location is nice but you need to plan for parking. The atmosphere is quiet and comfortable. I went during lunch time. The service is quick and very polite. Young girl very sweet. Like this for a nice meeting place.
