Moved to Woodbury during the pandemic and tonight was our first time to John’s Café for a birthday dinner. Food did not disappoint. We started with chickpea fries, which didn’t have much flavor, but the dipping sauces were very good – one sweet chili ️, the other garlic Parmesan. I had the salmon piccata. Huge piece of salmon over spinach with a few roasted potatoes. Delicious. Decent portions. But we didn’t stop there… onto dessert. I had a special triple berry tart with vanilla ice cream. The tart was warm, moist, and flavorful.

Fantastic food. Not a place to go if you’re in a hurry. Service is good, but not fast. We will definitely be returning.

Went here for my sisters birthday on the Monday evening after Easter. It surprised me how busy it was being that it was just after the holiday. It had friendly staff and nice looking menu. They seemed a little overwhelmed and maybe didn’t have enough staff that evening as the service was a little slow. I ordered the onion soup as I had a later lunch that day. It was good, but not great. The crouton placed on top was a little small for the bowl and the cheese seemed to be a little lacking as it didn’t cover the entire top of the bowl as a proper onion soup should. The rest of my party enjoyed their dishes and overall was a good experience. I would go back and try again as it seems to be a pretty nice spot.

John’s Cafe is a great place to eat. I was thoroughly impressed! It’s SO hard to find restaurants like this.. Everything is a chain, old and boring. My word to describe this place is FRESH. Everything is fresh, flavorful and delicious. After the food we ate I was so full but not in a “need to go nap” way. There are only two things I don’t recommend but glad I tried! The chickpea fries were not great, the flavor was bland, but the sauces made them better. There was also a gritty texture to them which threw me off.. I hate sand in seafood so much and it reminded me of that. Maybe it was almond flour?? Not sure but it was crunchy like sand and I was not a fan. The other one was the key lime pie- sorry but that was also just not good. It did’t taste like a true key lime pie. It was more of a *hint* of key lime cheesecake? It had this delicious raspberry sorbet on the side which I did like. Otherwise, the veggie sandwich, gnocchi, sausage and peppers sandwich, brownie dessert, and meatball app was DELISH!!! Will definitely find myself back here soon!!!

Had a wonderful lunch here! Friendly and helpful service! Food was amazing! Highly recommend ending your meal with a cappuccino! Restaurant is small so be sure to make reservations in advance. Perfect for date night dinners and small groups!

We haven’t been to John’s Cafe in a long time. I was disappointed in the food. I ordered the clam chowder which was bland and had raw bacon. The meal was cavatelli with bolognase sauce. It wasn’t cavatelli but mini shells done harder than al dente. The sauce was good. So disappointing. The best part was warm brownie sundae. Won’t be going back anytime soon.

Always enjoy John’s when in town. Good menu, usually fine service, not too noisy. Pork chop is excellent, as are the pastas. This time, service was a bit spotty, as they were quite busy. One faux pas was pouring an entire bottle of wine into four glasses without leaving one in the bottle. Large pours of expensive wine, not classy. Overall though, will certainly return.
