This place is amazing. There aren’t too many quality soulfood restaurants around, but Johnson BBQ is well worth the $$$. The portions are big enough to split. I can’t wait to get back & try other things on the menu. Also I really appreciated how the gentleman fixing plates catered to each individual person. That alone would make me come back

The food is amazing. The stories are delightful. It is really an old school kind of spot where you can interact with the owner who is also the chef. He knows so much and doesn’t mind engaging with the patrons. I highly recommend this establish. The ribs and sides;The chicken and corn bread! Soul food at its finest!

Came here on Sunday afternoon after seeing a post about them the night before on Instagram. The food is sooo delicious the staff is very friendly and attentive. I had the ribs dinner with collard greens and Mac & cheese. I also tried the fried chicken and the rice and peas are to die for. I highly recommend coming here.

Went here after the Yankee game and had great service. Food was still really hot when we got home and tasted amazing like a home cooked meal at Thanksgiving. They are also very generous with the portions. Would definitely recommend and come here again.

I have no words to really express how good the food is here, I would have loved to have taken a pic but I couldn’t put my fork down long enough to be able to take one. This place is an abSOULute GEM and it’s not only because of the food. Mr. Johnson has to be the best business owner I have ever encountered. His hospitality and kindness are what make this place so special. I understand why this place has been a BX staple for as long as it has been and can’t wait to return!

I ordered a chicken dinner and fish dinner sides were mac and cheese and collard greens. The food was not what I expected the mac and cheese was just that mac and cheese no flavor no taste the collard greens were not seasoned it just taste like it was boiled and some type of oil was added tasteless the chicken and fish was blah.

I used to love this place, but now the food is trash. I ordered ribs with mustard sauce, blk eyed peas and rice. And a side of Mac and cheese and greens. The ribs were hard, mac and cheese tasted out of the box. Greens were under cooked no seasoning and blk eyed peas were way under cooked. Oh and I forgot fried fish, that tasted like it came out the freezer. Never again, $70 wasted.

I heard about these ribs for years… And they DID NOT disappoint! The sides are in no comparison to the outstanding ribs. I had the sauce on the side. Wasn’t feeling that either. Once again, the ribs are excellent! Very authentic Carolina style ribs!
