Yes there are long lines. YES IT IS WORTH IT! Finally made it to the promised land and it was worth the hype! Delicious, homemade bbq and sides were all perfect. We had the brisket, pulled pork, pork belly burnt ends, and smoked turkey as our proteins and Mac & Cheese, Cheese Grits, Tater Tot Casserole, Street Corn salad, and Cherry Cobbler (aka Fruit Crunch) for dessert. You could taste the love in every bite. Jon G and family go out of their way to make sure the guests are comfortable by offering beverages and setting up tents and umbrellas for the folks in line. Be sure to say hi and snap a pic with the fam when they walk by. But everyone is there for the BBQ and it was amazing. Perfectly smoked and tender. Be sure to try the brisket and ask for some extra bark.

The experience leading up to the meal in itself is worth mentioning. Everyone knows there is a wait and is okay with it because of what’s in store (for me, got in line at 8:45am and through the doors at noon). I met some great people in the queue and by meal time we all sat together and enjoyed a well deserved lunch! Pops will greet you at the door and knows all the history of John and Kelly and how they got to the point they’re at of local bbq greatness; he’s a proud pops.

Is it worth the time, distance, and cost to eat at Jon G’s Barbecue? Yes, 100%! Today, Lori and I drove to Jon G’s Barbecue in Peachland, NC. They are only open on Saturdays and open at 11:00 a.m. The reviewers recommended arriving around 9:00 a.m. It took 53 minutes to drive there. We arrived at 9:26 a.m. There was already a long line. Sat down to eat at 2:16 p.m. Yep, we waited almost 5 hours in the rain. The owners put up pop up canopies for those standing in the rain. Most people brought camping chairs and coolers of beer. Everyone was friendly and laid back. It rained all day! While in line, they took orders for Kolaches (stuffed bread; we bought the shredded chicken/bacon and the hot sausage) and ate them while in line. The food was DELICIOUS! The best bbq we’ve ever eaten! The meats were all MOIST and full of flavor. Unfortunately, by the time we placed our orders they were sold out of the beef ribs, turkey, and bacon burnt ends. Between the two of us, we tried the pulled pork, spare ribs, brisket, baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni & cheese, and the oreo pudding. The house made pickles and pickled onions were a great complement to the BBQ. The staff was very nice, helpful, and friendly. I will be be going back!

What a great experience we had on this rainy day. We decided last minute to take a little road trip to try Jon G’s Barbecue and it did not disappoint. Excellent and welcoming service was experienced from all angles. The wait was about an hour and while waiting we got to chat with Tom aka Pops who gave us a little backstory on how the business got started and let us know his personal favorites. Pops was a true gem and a pleasure to chat with. We ordered 2lbs brisket, 1lb short ribs, Queso habanero sausage link, pork taco, mac and cheese, slaw, beans, brisket fried rice and Oreo pudding. It was fantastic! We also got to meet one of the owners/cook/fire keeper, Jon G who was super friendly, genuine and kind. This will be the first of many visits for us and this quality of food is hard to find. All of it was delicious but the brisket is unmatched.

This place on the side of 74 is unbelievable. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is exactly what you’d want in a small-town eatery, the staff is great, and the line is out the door every Saturday. The brisket just falls apart, the rib meat slides right off the bone, and the mac and cheese is delicious. The sausage was huge, portions were more than enough for everything, and the flavor was just insane. Come early because the wait was about an hour, but they give you 2 free beers & water while you’re in line which is unheard of. The wait is worth it, and I guarantee that the smell alone will keep you in the line for as long as it takes. People come from all over the area to get the best brisket you’ll find anywhere. The hours are 11 until everything runs out and only on Saturdays. I can’t give a higher recommendation. Absolutely delicious.

Top 5 in the country! I’ve had the pleasure of trying so much BBQ so far across many states and we are lucky to have Jon G’s just 35 miles outside of Charlotte in Peachland! There’s a line BUT IT IS WORTH THE WAIT! They are a family run joint spreading the BBQ gospel. Highly recommend going to a meat pop up if you’re close or experiencing Barbecue Saturday. From the popups to dine in the quality and taste are impeccable. The Beef Rib wow! The smoked turkey, wow! Kolaches, woof! They even had Prime Rib but sold out before I had a chance to try. I don’t usually like beans but their baked beans are the star of the sides alongside their coleslaw & brisket fried rice. You will not be disappointed! Every time I go I just get one of everything because it’s just that dang good!

The food was top-notch! We spent about $200 and got a little bit of everything they had left. They were out of beef ribs, burnt ends, and a few other things by the time we ordered. The beans and the queso texacano hot links were my favorites. The service was excellent! The older gentleman sitting by the door was very welcoming and gave a lot of insight about the restaurant and how to order. Everyone behind the counter was friendly and welcoming as well. The reason for only giving 4 stars is because we arrived at 9:50am with chairs and umbrellas (prepared for the wait and the weather) but we did not actually get food until 3:31pm. I could not honestly give any place 5 stars that I had to wait almost 5 hours to get food. My advice would be to plan accordingly and arrive at around 8 if you don’t want to spend your Saturday waiting in line. If by chance you have the opportunity to try the food without such a long wait, I would highly recommend it as it was delicious.

OUTSTANDING!!!! This probably one of the best meals I’ve had in years. I didn’t have a complaint about anything I tasted. Staff is super friendly and the owner is very gracious and kind. Highly recommend the Brisket and Beef ribs.

Well-earned reputation of BBQ greatness. It’s the best Texas style BBQ I have had outside of Texas. And it’s in the top tier of places in NC regardless of style. We had Beef rib (lucked out getting the last one of the day!), Brisket, Spare Rib, Pork, Bacon burnt ends, and 2 kinds of sausage links. I have never had Texas BBQ anywhere where each main protein was so perfectly cooked.

I didn’t even like brisket before I had it at JonG’s. Friends from Texas say it’s the best they’ve ever had.
