JRECK Subs Menu – Saranac Lake, NY

Type : Sandwich shop

Location : Saranac Lake, NY

Fresh-made subs and sides that redefine delicious! JRECK Subs was founded in 1967 when five Northern New York schoolteachers started selling submarine sandwiches out of an old, converted school bus. Their names were Jerry Haley, Robert Martin, Ellis Martin, Charles Lehman, and Keith Waltz. And, if you take the first letter of each of their names and put them together, you get the word, “JRECK.” Since then, JRECK subs stores have opened up throughout New York State and continue to offer the best-tasting subs around. Each JRECK Subs store is locally owned and operated by dedicated franchisees who honor our past by retaining a foundational engagement of support with educators, schools and other organizations in the Saranac Lake area.

Chain of casual sandwich shops serving hot & cold submarine sandwiches, plus soups & salads. Based on 128 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.5 stars. Price $

Friendly staff, great service and a nice clean environment. The subs are delicious and would recommend them over subway any day!

The speed of the service and the friendliness of the staff are always appreciated. The subs are as good as you’d get at a similar sub shop, and I haven’t left dissatisfied. Thanks!

Got an Italian on Jalapeño Bread. Used to pass by here all the time and never stopped. The food is amazing. Have had the onion rings, fried cheese curds, and fries. The food is always on point. Quick service and friendly too! Definitely recommend!

When I walked in my food was ready. The gentleman that was working was friendly. The food was hot and absolutely the best sub I’ve had in a long time. The fried cheese curds were great as well. Only complaint was when I opened the box of cheese curds I expected more for the price but I was happy. I highly recommend the juicy steak and cheese sub.

Perfectly acceptable sub shop. Normal fast food fare; normal prices; normal service. Four out of five stars for what it is, cheap & fast, convenience food.

Really disappointed with the lack of care by the staff. Asked for a steak and cheese sandwich, and watched the young lady working put the meat on an extremely dirty grill top. I apologized for interjecting, but asked if she could please cook the meat on a clean flat top, she tried to salvage her work until turning and asking if she should just cook it over again. I asked if she could, as the other employee, an older woman, mouthed “I’m sorry” to me. At this point the first employee placed more food onto the same spot of the flat top, which while it finally didn’t have pieces of bunted food scraps on them, was still nowhere near a clean surface. Why she couldn’t use the other 75% of the flat top is beyond me, but at this point I apologized to the second staff member and we left.

The food is good, however, the service can be fairly slow, and the overall quality and portion sizes can be easily beat for a similar (if not smaller) price at other local restaurants. That said, you can expect a good meal for an acceptable price, I just feel that other local restaurants will give you “more bang for your buck.”

Overall, not impressed with the quality of the food or service. The man on the phone was extremely rude and condescending while trying to order our food. He kept complaining about us taking too long to order and asked things like, “have we ever ordered anything before?” When we did get our food, it was mediocre at best. I personally wouldn’t recommend, there are much better sub shops around the Lake Saranac area.

Good small sub chain in the Northern part of NY. Prices are reasonable and the people are nice. It can get busy during the tourist seasons. The food is fast and there is a good selection of food including poutine. Perfect food for a quick bite to eat.
