My family has been going to Juan’s since 1983 and tonight our group included my 13 yr old grandson who says this is his favorite place to eat. The food has been consistently delicious. The staff has always treated us warmly. It doesn’t get better than a place makes you feel so comfortable and welcomed and the food is delicious and at a reasonable cost.

Have been going here since 1980 but not lately. I’d just finished working on my boat when I sat down to study the menu. I hadn’t waited to be seated but looked for an outlet to charge my phone, maybe this is what set the rest in motion. Very little salsa compared to previous years but very tasty and the chips were excellent. Menu seems different and as I was enjoying the chips I carefully studied the menu. All of a sudden I was being rushed to order like they assumed I just wanted to eat the free chips and not have any money. This continued ruining my enjoyment of both. Finally I was pushed to order … Plate hot food less so enchilada sauce bland but all looked good and I said so. But again rice warm at best etc. But that is all minor. Three different people were waiting on me like none wanted to be responsible for me and a busboy older man even blew his nose into a bag or something. Still I love Juan’s and tried to make the most of it. My final request for more chips and salsa brought older ones not delicious like the first. The woman waiter placed them on the far edge of the table like she didn’t want to get near me. I assume they have a problem with homeless doing what they assumed I was doing.. I paid 23.00 for food that shouldn’t have been more than 12.00.

I’m hesitant to say anything because then the place will be a zoo. But after shirt consideration, I share with you JUANS PLACE! And what a place! Great food, atmosphere, all around energy. I’d wanted to go for a while and finally made it last weekend. So glad I did and will certainly be back. Places like this are a dime a dozen so do yourself a favor and go today. Friendly, personable service from a long-time waiter. Beautiful, comfortable atmosphere with interior pictures of culture. The food came out quickly, while there was no wait for napkins & silverware. Water was served rapidly. Authentic, hot tasty enchiladas! There was truly a sizable amount of fish in their fish taco. Red & green salsas were wonderful * not too spicy. Highly recommend! Juan’s is an institution. There’s no place like it. I hadn’t been in since I moved my business to Oakland. they used to be right around the corner, and I’d go there twice a week to get super nachos for all the staff (and me!). Super nachos are still fantastic!
