I was hesitant to try the food with all the mixed reviews, but I’m definitely glad I did. I arrived at the truck, had to call the number, and go to another location for order/ pickup. There were some sides I wanted to try but they will not be available until the food truck is done with renovations so I look forward to going back for those. I wanted to try the vegetarian ackee with plantains but received ackee/ salt fish. I did not want to wait for a new dish and never had the Jamaican national dish so I took the meal. It was succulent and kept me full for over 4+ hours. Looking forward to the good truck being open.

The food tastes very good as expected. Very good to find the only legitimate Jamaican restaurant in this state that I know of so far. Customer service was perfect, friendly and respectful. I can see that they are a hard working family and it is not easy to run a business especially a food business, but I can tell they are legitimately kind people, real Jamaicans and the food is authentically Jamaican. I am Jamaican so I would know. There are I think 2 other restaurants I found that has Jamaican dishes but it’s not authentic Jamaican food the way Jamaicans actually cook it. No person or restaurant is perfect. But my experience there and also the quality of the food I plan to visit there regularly. Also unless a Jamaican restaurant is actually in Jamaica itself where only Jamaican products are used to prepare dishes, it’s a pretty good deal when any restaurant outside of Jamaica can make good tasting dishes. Especially in Seattle where I have not yet found any place to purchase any Jamaican products. For example seasoning sold in Jamaica is much more flavorful and organic than the products available in the US. Produce tastes different even when cooked . The oils, meats, everything tastes better in Jamaica. Therefore a Jamaican restaurant in a place like Seattle will probably have more difficulty than other restaurants (like those in Florida or New York where a large population of Jamaicans and Jamaican products are present) because they don’t have good access to the kind of products that would give the best taste of Jamaican flavors. There is not a large population of Caribbean people in this state so little to no products from Jamaica and other Caribbean countries are sold here. And if any of the ingredients are imported from Jamaica remember there are laws that usually require adjusting how the products are sold so that takes away from the flavor. For example I think ackee can only be imported if it is shelled and put in cans with water. And even if you grow an ackee tree on US soil the taste is different because each countries soil is different. So I am very proud that they manage to pull it off and make very good tasting dishes. It’s better than I expected it to be.

The jerk chicken was filled with a lot of good spices, albeit I wish there was more sauce. It was a hearty meal and was made pretty quickly.

Spent $24 for oxtail meal on Ubereats (not including delivery fees and tax)… oxtails were cooked perfectly but tasted ok, rice and peas were very bland and lacked seasoning. Not authentic jamaican food at all was very disappointing.

Well it looks like a great food truck. But their hours are incorrect. It’s 2: 30pm on a Tuesday and they are closed. Edit: putting a sign-up saying call for inquiries. Means you are closed and can’t be bothered with my lunch order.

I have patronize the Jamaican Kitchen twice. The first time I was mostly satisfied with the choices. I ordered 4 dinners ,2 oxtails, curry goat and a jerk chicken. The oxtails had good flavor but the portion was small. The curry goat the flavor was good but the serving was mostly bones. The jerk chicken was excellent and they gave a generous portion. The sides were not good at all the beans and rice were very bland and the didn’t come with salad dressing. I went back 2nd time and ordered the jerk chicken dinners, two. I called my order in and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes I waited an additional 20 minutes because the first time I went I had to wait. When I got there this time I was the only one there.i gave my name and the person said that she didn’t have my order. So I waited while she prepared my order. I made sure to asked for extra jerk sauce and salad dressing. When I ate my meals later my wife said my chicken is burnt mine was also burnt. Jamaican Kitchen had already closed for the evening so I called them the next day. I spoke with someone who when I told her my food was burnt , she said that happens sometimes. Not what I wanted to hear. I asked for the owner and was told she was out of town. She never asked me how she could remedy my concern. She was very rude and seemed to want to argue. I told her I would never ever patronize the Jamaican Kitchen again.

The food is amazing. Great portions for the price. I always have leftovers from one meal. The jerk pork is my favorite, with curry chicken as a close second. The salad and the rice and peas are also good. The food tastes fresh. I ordered through a delivery service and the food was perfect when it arrived, the right temperature.
