Starting in 1997 , Ramen Chef , Nishimura began building his skills managing his family’s restaurant in Mountain View , California. After 20 years of continued success Nishimura moved to Los Angeles to open and operate his own restaurant Kai Ramen . The ramen and service here is incredible. I got the bomb ramen (mild spicy level) which was delicious, but I started choking (my own fault) and the server here gave me a thai tea free of charge because she said drinking something sweet will help. She was also incredibly sweet and friendly in general. The restaurant is cute and plays very enjoyable Japanese music. Also very affordable with a lot of options including vegetarian. Perhaps one of my favorite ramen spots of all time.

This is a great find in Santa Monica. You usually have to drive out of Santa Monica for good ramen. The white Tonkotsu ramen is rich in flavors, the pork chashu was cooked just right. Delicious!

Two of us split the garlic potato appetizer and each got a different ramen. The food was good and plenty of vegan options and vegetarian options. The place was busy when we went so service was slow and the dinning area is small so not great for big groups.

my friends and i come here frequently and i could not recommend it enough!! we always have a bit of a larger party but they are so accommodating. the food is super good (especially the teriyaki chicken bowl!) and the staff are some of the kindest people i have ever met!

The noodles have a nice consistency, there’s a good amount of tofu in it, the flavors are nicely balanced.
The other nice thing is the service.
The restaurant is in a busy mini mall, but I had no trouble finding parking. It’s small, casual, and there are a couple of small tables outside.

Stopped in because we love ramen and wanted to support local. Service was good but that was the only star. Food was very low quality. “Sliced” beef ramen was at least 50% fat, and the waitress confirmed that the appetizers were prepackaged frozen.

Delicious ramen! I will definitely be back. I kept heading to downtown and K-town for ramen, I should’ve headed west. The service was great! We were a big party and went on a Saturday at lunch. We did not wait long for our food. Ramen was so good! Teriyaki chicken was good too.
