This has become our go-to place for sushi in Powdersville. The portions are nice and the taste is great. If you are there for lunch or during their sushi “Happy Hour” the prices are very reasonable. Their hibachi meals are also very good and my family has loved everything they tried. Highly recommended for sushi or just a nice night out without breaking the bank.

Great sushi! Very fresh and good quality. Large rolls that are plenty to share! I also ordered the miso soup and it was good as well, not to salty. Very knowledgeable staff that can assist with food allergies. Clean restaurant and nice atmosphere.

We go here every week either on Monday or Tuesday for the happy hour. It goes from 430 to close and the prices are AMAZING! The food quality is fabulous, but do expect to wait if you get a roll that has a lot of different ingredients. The beer and saki prices are pretty outstanding as well! No complaints

Extremely slow service. Took 15 minutes before any approached our table to take our drink order. We ordered an appetizer, drinks, and entrees at the same time. One bowl of soup came or with our drinks. When our salads finally came out they were accompanied by our entrees. The chicken was dry and not freshly cooked and extremely salty. My appetizer finally arrived after I had finished my entree. Needless to say we will not be back nor recommend to others. Needs serious management help. Meanwhile the host at the front door cheered loudly over a football game on TV. Very unprofessional.

Overall I highly recommend this location. The food achieves the level of quality that you expect from Kanpai, just without the grill and showmanship. Sushi is excellent and very reasonably priced especially at lunch or “Happy Hour” prices. Late lunch is never crowded. Food is served quickly. The only downside is the wait staff is hit or miss. Depending on who your server is you can go from top notch to marginal at best.

Management sucks, kitchen is great but slow, servers are AMAZING. Every time we’ve gone in there for sit down or pick up alike, we’ve had excessive waits well beyond what we were promised by the manager, and while the food is worth it, we wouldn’t keep coming back if it weren’t for the service staff. They know how to step up and make things right and are very personable and helpful. Go just to tip them, they’re champs.

Update to review below. I must be persistent as we tried it yet again. The staff were friendly, we had a great waiter, the food was good (as usual) and the kitchen was exceptionally quick. It was very nice and much different. Nice work on the issues.

They close early and turn customers away. We arrived 35 minutes before closing time and we were told they were slow and closing but they had customers eating. Not good customer service. We have eaten her 5 times before and the waitress are nice and the food is great, but the supervisor woman needs to stay open until closing time. If you dont like customers and don’t want to work until 9pm on a Monday then find a new job. I don’t think i will go back. It was embarrassing to tell my sister how good it was and we should go there, then be declined a table 35 minutes before closing time.

We’ve never had a bad meal at kanpai. The food is always good, and the servers are fast and friendly. Even when the place is packed you don’t have to wait long for your meal. The sushi is my favorite and grilled meals are good too.

How does this place run with a front of the house manager that is blatantly rude to her staff as well as to the guests?! (I think her name is Mari?) Not once did I hear the say please or thank you. I really liked the food and the wait staff. It’s a shame that someone who is supposed to be helping the restaurant run smoother is actually hindering it from its full potential. Oh and if you have celiac or are gluten free… Be prepared to be told (by the manager) that you cannot have anything on the menu even though it’s not the truth.
