If you’re looking for a personable place with GREAT coffee, this is it. They have the best flavored coffees and for the iced coffee they use coffee ice cubes so it doesn’t get watered down! Not to mention this place smells like cafe heaven walking in. Next time will be trying a panini or egg scrambler, too bad I wasn’t hungry this morning!

6/15/23 Update – still a wonderful place. I would say even better. Their selection has expanded and they have added 2 picnic tables outside. Meal is still really good and they have a nice selection of breads and other goodies. This place is a nice little café off the beaten path in Marengo. My experience has always been delicious and pleasant when visiting Kay and Jo’s. Not only do they make great sandwich plate, soups and salads, they have fresh baked breads and sweets also. Very nice experience but just two tables so get there early or take it to go – you will not be disappointed.

Finest bakery in all of Mchenry county, been to many bakeries and this one is the best! Family owned and operated! NOT a commercial corporation. If you never had a Marzipan princess torte. You need to google it and then have Dan the owner make 1 for you! Best homemade pies around. Haven’t had a princess torte in a few years, had to import one last year and Dans is weaaay better than any I’ve ever had. and he can custom make them with non traditional flavors and toppings if you like!!
