Kema is similar to Kenaki but a little faster pace. That doesn’t mean the food quality suffers. They have some hand rolls that are insanely good. The tuna on crispy rice is one of the best in the area. Some of the great rolls from Kenaki are also on the menu so don’t skip those. Don’t forget to check out their daily specials as they can sell out by lunch.

Kema did not disappoint. Similar to Kenaki, but the hand rolls are delicious and super fun. I’m always a big fan of the fatty tuna, but you can’t go wrong with any of their dishes. Chef Ken really knows his way around fish and the rice for their roll and bowls is the best around.

I ordered two rolls and they were both excellent. Kema made the spicy tuna and spicy salmon very well and the quality of the fish is great. You can usually tell when the fish is not high quality, which usually has a very fish-y taste. But here, it taste very fresh!

Love love love this new Japanese restaurant! Quick, efficient and the food was fresh, tasty and the presentation was 5 star! I loved the unique Saki jars that you can take home with you ☺️ and the warm Saki and cocktail served in-house was really good. I was surprised at how delicious the gin cocktail tasted. The decor is beautiful and I love the energy and service provided by the manager and the staff. This place is a different concept from their full scale Gaithersburg restaurant location “KenAki” so I can appreciate how they are matching the theme of nearby restaurants, where you can order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. Me & my honey will definitely be back again.

Great fast casual experience. This means that the menu is compact, you order at the counter, and the food comes out FAST. The food, like their flagship restaurant Kenaki, was delicious and flavor-packed. Ordered the salmon+mango hand roll, new spicy tuna, and karaage plate, all of which were very good. Both wasabi and ginger also tasted great. Will come back to try the rest of the menu!

Definitely the sushi spot in Potomac! This restaurant is a cute “snacc” version of the original Kenaki in Kentlands. It has the best “hits” from the original and other new items including temaki hand rolls. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu as it has a cooked items such as the Deep Sea Temaki (cooked) or the Black Magic roll (raw).

Much like Kenaki, the menu is full of innovative and exciting Japanese dishes, with inspirations from other cultures.

Kema by Kenaki is a Japanese Restaurant located in Cabin John Village. Tables are first come, first serve. When we arrived, there were a few tables left so we were able to pick a table. Our server gave us menus and told us that when we were ready to order to go to the counter and provide our table #. I enjoyed a Guava Lemonade. My fiancé and I had two handrolls each. My fiancé had the Chunky Spicy Tuna Handroll and Cho-Toro Negi Handroll. If he had to pick a favorite, he’d choose the Chunky Spicy Tuna because of the flavor and texture. I had the Akami + Shiso and Deep Sea. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d choose the Deep Sea because of the flavor and uniqueness. After the handrolls, we shared Beets by Ken and Kaarage. The Beet Salad was nice, light, and refreshing. The Kaarage was crispy. I liked how it was paired nicely with a truffle kewpie.
