Wow! GREAT food! My standards for that comment are pretty high, but someone knows how to cook! Food was well-seasoned, hot and fresh. The young lady who was helping me was so sweet and had perfect customer service, professionalism. This place is a gem and if it was close to where I lived, I’d be a regular. I was just staying at the Microtel Hotel (a brief walk away). About as much of an at-home meal as a man can get when on the road. Definitely my go to place now when I’m in the Birmingham area.

Coffee & cobbler. That’s all I had. What is it about the South! Every restaurant I’ve come to is friendly & more than accommodating. The customer service has been exceptional. Everyone is more than happy to help you. Kemps is no exception they were very kind. A very clean place too! Food bar looks really good! Cobbler & coffee mmmm good!

Absolute roller coaster ride. Showed up at 930 on a Saturday for brunch and we were the only people there. We could order from the very sparse ala-cart immediately or Scan the QRC code at the table. After we sat, had to ask to get someone to bring us coffee and then ask again for waters. Electronic web- menu was confusing and not up to date. Even though the waiter had been to our table a bunch of times, our food was delivered BY A ROBOT! Half the food was cold, the other half was incorrect. Biscuits were good though. Everything about the experience was odd and mediocre.

Food was AMAZING!! I ate a meat and veggies plate from the hot bar … (not really veggies, but to we deep Southerners…. All sides are considered veggies lol) … The country fried steak was perfect. Mashed potatoes were actual smashed baby reds, not flakes from a box. Mac and cheese was baked and quite tasty….. But the star of my plate was the cabbage. It was almost as good as my mother made. I literally finished the entire bowl before I ever touched another thing. Desert is decent….

I just want to say Kemp’s Food is Fabulous so far I’ve had the Vegetables from the bar!!! Want to go back and try Ordering from the Menu and have the Robot Name ( Besty ) I think to bring our food to the table and the Dessert are Great!!! P.S. THANKS KEMP Patti, Joel & I Enjoyed It Very Much!!!

Came home to visit family. Glad Gardendale finally got a meat and three. The burgers are amazing. The additional menu is great and it is clear the owner and staff are trying to please the customers. My kids loved the hand breaded chicken fingers, green beans, Mac n Cheese, and the robot brought three hot baskets of fries. I had the country fried steak but tried the chicken fried chicken. I think I will get the Buffalo chicken sandwich before leaving town. Prices are perfect for this area. Their burgers could easily be 16.95 because of the quality where we live in Florida. I think people should give this place a try.

This is a meat-and-three restaurant, with a bakery. The location was empty a long time, so I’m not sure many people realize Kemp’s opened up here. This was the first time eating there for myself and my husband. The meat choices were fried chicken breasts, fried catfish, and I think beef liver and chicken tenders. We got the chicken breasts and catfish. My sides were macaroni and cheese and sweet potato casserole with a roll. My husband’s were fried green tomatoes and fried okra. The catfish was probably the best I’ve ever had, and the chicken breasts were good. I love super-cheesy macaroni, and they delivered with grated cheese on top of the mac-and- cheese. I thought it was excellent. I don’t care much for fried green tomatoes, but my husband gets it all the time, and said this was too crusty. The okra was good. I filled up before I could try the casserole, and neither of us had room to try the rolls. We came home with lots of leftovers, plus a gooey piece of turtle brownie from the bakery.
