We had the most amazing experience here! Our server David was incredible, he was attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable of the menu! Everything we had was unbelievably good, my personal favorites were the Dynamite Shrimp and Chef’s choice mochi. The ambiance in Kenichi is also lovely, it feels intimate but still very fun and perfect for any occasion. Would absolutely recommend!

Ah, Kenichi. A highlight of ant Aspen trip. Safe for anyone with allergies including celiac as they run a very conscientious kitchen. From Jay and Aubrey at the bar, to Chris, Chris, Zack, and everyone else in the dining room to the sweet manager, I can never remember the name of…the service here is impeccable.

Michelin star quality food, although lacking when it comes to service. Made a same day reservation and was promptly seated at a 2 top. I’m a bit larger and found the seat very tight. The hostess took my jacket however never provided a coat check tag – and never brought me my jacket back upon paying the bill even though I asked for it (I had to go to the front to get it myself). Upon ordering, our server lost our order several times and piecemeal (guesswork?) delivered us our meals, with no proper order. There should be a sequence of when these dishes come out but they were delivered all at once and missing an order of scallops which came 20 minutes after we finished our dinner. Drinks took a long time to come out. Drinks were decent but too small, I expected a little more. The server offered a dessert on the house which was delicious. But overall service was lacking and checking in on us randomly, there were plenty of staff working and the restaurant at minimum capacity so I don’t understand why the poor service. Other tables were also very loud, almost like being at a bar, this is not a romantic night out.

Kenichi is a top notch Japanese restaurant, I’ve eaten here at least 30 times 🙂 We usually prefer the bar area, the bar menu is great. Try the dynamite shrimp and the Godzilla roll – so good! If you are in Aspen during the winter, make a reservation early (1 month in advance) on opentable.com – they are always full. It’s a popular place because of its vibrant atmosphere, good service, and awesome food! I’ll be back soon

Amazing culinary experience. The freshest fish in Aspen. Cozy atmosphere. Wide variety of Sake as well as a knowledgeable staff. Clean and consistent.

Fun ambiance. We liked the appetizers and other prepared dishes better than the sushi.

“Plant-based” means no animal products. It’s another way of saying vegan. I’ve been ordering your “plant-based” rolls for years, and learned tonight the tempura has milk in it! As well the vegetable yakisoba has egg in the noodles (but it’s not labeled). There is a (supposedly vegan) miso soup, but it’s not labeled as such. Honey in the Austin roll is also not “plant-based”. Vegans don’t want to have to ask for special treatment. Its awkward. We would rather just order something that is definitively plant based, no questions asked. Tonight’s experience is why I don’t often eat in public. Restaurants don’t honestly make an effort to create fine dining for those of us who care about the animals, our own health, and the planet. We eat better at home.

This was honestly the best tempura I’ve ever had (and I’ve had some realllly good stuff in Nara and Osaka!!). The sushi was also incredible, as was the special banana chocolate cheesecake. In all, this was the best culinary experience I’ve had in years. I didn’t want the evening to end!

Great restaurant and staff. I love to sit at the sushi bar and watch the art form that the sushi chefs perform. The Black Seaweed salad is worth trying. Very different and flavorful.
