Today we ordered the keiyakiya chicken, which is their twist on the mochiko chicken, the karaage chicken plate, and the typhoon fries. The food was absolutely amazing, the karaage chicken tasted just like it would in Japan! They even have hijiki salad (black seaweed) in the plate and it brought me back to my time in Japan. The overall plate was delicious and very filling with lots of chicken as you can see in the photo. I’ll definitely be back to try something new!

Best katsu I’ve ever eaten, and I’ve eaten many across the world. The chef used to work in kitchens in LA+New York then run the one at Nuka; he’s very good. I didn’t find the staff rude, they’re just to the point. Worth driving a long distance, and you can just go to the local parking lot/harbor front next to it to eat. Try phoning ahead; orders take 10 minutes to prepare as it’s all made to go.

I’ve had a fair amount of katsu in my life, and Keyakiya’s chicken katsu was one of the best I’ve ever had. The exterior was crispy but the chicken was so moist and tender, amazing job by the chef. I wish I had found them earlier on my trip. I’ll be thinking of this katsu for a long time.

If you’re looking for authentic Japanese in the middle of the pond, this is your spot. Best there is on the island, no doubt. There’s only one other place in the U.S. that I know of that makes Katsu curry as excellent as this. My only regret was not coming back. It’s worth an hour drive across the island. Otherwise, make this your first stop after you land and pick up your rental (assuming you’re arriving ~2pm or sooner to have time to get here before they close).

I don’t often stop to write reviews these days, but Keyakiya deserves five-star status for the quality of their food. As someone who has lived (and eaten well) in Japan, I can honestly say that this is among the absolute best Japanese cuisine I’ve been fortunate enough to find on Maui over the past decade! Don’t let the food truck’s humble exterior fool you — Yoshie and Yasu-san are infusing some serious love, awareness and *aloha* into their culinary creations…

Heard several people say this is the best katsu sandwich they’ve ever had so I had to try it out immediately and they were all 100% right. The chicken is so juicy and the slaw is so sweet it all comes together perfectly and probably one of the best buns I’ve had on this whole island

Food was decent but the staff was really unfriendly (almost angry at us?) – we wouldn’t go back.

Simply scrumptious. I got the braised beef donburi. One of the best donburi ever (I love Japanese food). My friend got the katsu which was excellent as well.
