We enjoyed a meal at this unpretentious restaurant. We had hummus, pita, and fetter for apps. Entrees were grilled branzino, shrimp and pasta and chicken swarma. We also had a Alexander Great salad (great!) but since meals came with salad it was too much. My fav was the branzino. The seasonings were delicious. Watch the many bones. I wish however that I had reread the article from the Post before we went because it may have been better to try the Koshary vs. the shrimp dish (so so), and the tahini vs. hummus (so so). I would skip the fetter. Strangely, it was mentioned that the food was closer to Yemeni than Egyptian. I’ll be back to try the more traditional dishes.

King of Koshary never fails. The food is authentic and made with soul. Today I had the cenjari branzino and it was incredible. The fish was so delicate and mild, and the spices were elegant, exotic, and perfectly balanced. I like the food here so much that I ordered a bunch of items just to take home—molokhia, ful (fava beans, which autocorrect wants to call “fave beans”, not inappropriately), and rice with vermicelli.

I had a lovely lunch here today, trying the koshary (my first time), mango juice, and rice pudding for dessert. The portions were generous, and the food was delicious! I will definitely be telling my friends and neighbors about this place.

Beautiful authentic Egyptian food! Marwan was serving us at King of Koshary and was very welcoming and helpful. We tried nearly everything on the menu and the food is amazing must try if you’re looking for authentic homemade Egyptian food. Highly recommend the Bamya and Mombar

Excellent! We loved the koshary — it was very filling and the sauces it came with were delicious! We also really liked the mulukheya with chicken; the soup was tasty and flavorful and the chicken was cooked well, too. The baba ganouj was okay; it was a touch too salty for our taste. Service was wonderful and timely; we had a great experience here and highly recommend for good Egyptian food!!

At first glance, the ambience looked very inviting and the place was clean although the cashier area with clothes and items for sale looked unkempt. They had 2 Egyptian mummies which were great but misplaced- it would have been better if put in a central place or as an accent but it was in a recessed corner, near the sink and by the coat hanger. Really loved their food, except for the lamb mandi which we all thought was too dry , and just a little on the tough side. The server recommended the grilled fish and we ordered it but, he forgot. Also, he had to be reminded several times to serve our drinks- the hot tea came but the sodas after a while. Our used plates were not picked up so that we could have more room for the other dishes. We had to put them on the next empty table. He was informative and cheerful though. Overall, good food but the inattentive server and the lackluster semi Egyptian decor could be a note for improvement!

I liked the liver sandwich, the kofta was ok and Om Ali dessert was so delicious but I didn’t like the meat shawarma it doesn’t match the Egyptian shawarma at all especially with the cooked green peppers, the Egyptian shawarma is never cooked with green peppers.
