We saw a sign for this place just walking around town and decided to try it. To our delight, it was really cute and the bar was so inviting. The staff was all really wonderful and seemed to be enjoying themselves, which is always really great!

Consistently delicious! We dine here regularly and we love it. Our son lived in London while in college and knows good Indian food. My husband and I traveled to India and we know good Indian food. The 3 of us agree that Kismet is excellent. Everything, including dessert, is delicious!

Delicious dishes! Our favorites were the spinach kofta, tandoori cauliflower, and the korma. Both types of rice were prepared to perfection. Friendly and attentive staff. Will be back next time we’re in Alexandria.

We were out and about Old town looking for a place to eat. We stumbled across a sandwich board that pointed down a side street so decided to wander in. The place has a great vibe, is clean, and the staff is very friendly. We sat at the bar and the restaurant was pretty full. We ordered drinks while we looked over the menu. We were told that they had to let the kitchen catch up before we could place an order. That’s when I looked around and saw that no one had any food yet. This isn’t a negative against the kitchen, I appreciate them letting us know and not just keep on piling onto the kitchen staff. We had time, so we didn’t mind. It was about 10 or 15 minutes when we could order(not long at all) and the food came out maybe 20 minutes later. I got the paneer lajawab and my wife got the vegetable korma. We shared garlic naan and the tandoori cauliflower. It was all delicious. Some of the best I have ever had. I would give this place 4.5 stars. It is definitely “modern” Indian food but still very traditionally tasting.

Food and service were very average for a high price Indian restaurant. The food presentation lacked the panache. We had the paneer and kofta, and the presentation was lacking. Paneer dish had literally three pieces of paneer in it which was disappointing. Although the paneer were stuffed the quantity was still lacking. The lamb curry was good though but spicy. I’m Indian and can handle spice but be warned. For apps we had the jhol muri and tandoori cauliflower. Jhol muri was good but tandoori cauliflower was underwhelming. It lacked the tandoori (fire) flavor and the sauce on it was spicier than it should be. Naans were ok – heads up, the plain naan has cilantro on it so if you don’t like cilantro, ask the chef to hold off on it. As for dessert we tried the milk cake and rose ice cream – they were both average and not worth mentioning. The service was average, slow, and the servers didn’t seem to know much aby the food they are serving. We also tried some cocktails and they were average as well. The overall food was spicy – Indian food doesn’t have to be spicy(hot), it can be flavorful without being such hot, too rich food (be ready with tums if you don’t eat Indian food regularly), seriously lacked presentation, good portions for two, average service. Overall I don’t think I will be returning as it didn’t meet my requirements of a high-priced Indian restaurant.

You do have a choice in where you eat, this restaurant has a lot of work to do for providing dishes that are well rounded and balanced. The service is friendly, kind and just fine. The drinks are strong, but not a crafted cocktail as the menu would suggest. The food needs a lot of work. We ordered the sweet potato appetizer and it was not anything special. The cubed potatoes were not toasted, and the tamarind glaze was lacking. We ordered the spinach croquettes for the entree and they were barely edible. There was nothing spicy about them — only massive amounts of salt. There wasn’t even enough rice to balance out the saltiness. We also had a portion of chickpeas which were ok, but lacking in flavor as well. I wish I could like this place more, but they need to work on balance of flavors and seasoning.

Came for the first time with my family including two boys. The food is fresh and delicious with fantastic service. Just spicy enough for everyone to enjoy without overwhelming. Would absolutely recommend for a nice dinner out.

Excellent food and service. The Chicken Tikka Masala sauce was thick, fragrant, and perfectly spiced for me. The lunch portion was very generous. A bit pricey if you’re on a budget.
