Our group of 5 were the only persons seated at the Hibachi table. The person that seated us did not turn on the grill (normal practice at hibachi restaurants) when we were seated so the grill was not ready when the chef came to our table. It took about 15 minutes for the grill to heat up. The show put on by the chef was okay. He pushed saki way too much. A lot of the food he was tossing for us to catch wound up on the floor. The quality and the taste of the food was good and prepared properly. While I don’t think this is the best hibachi in the area, I would go back.

For starters this is a review of the dine in experience in the non-hibachi section. Before the review begins, I would like to state that the food is excellent and that I have been a takeout customer for many months but this review is primarily focused upon the service aspect of the establishment. Getting a seat didn’t take long but it was clear that the abundance of people at the restaurant proved to be too much for the staff to handle. We waited quite a long time to have our orders taken and we had to grab the attention of the waitress who seemed to forget that we hadn’t ordered. The same occurred with customers next to us and it left some concerns on my face; after all having to raise your hand to have your order taken is not the most promising sign. Moreover, we waited an exuberant amount of time for the sushi we ordered to come and there were individuals who were seated later than us that got their sushi before us. It leaves one wondering how they keep track of orders. Overall, the food and atmosphere is good but the dine in experience is far from acceptable. Unfortunately don’t plan on dining in again any time soon, but will continue to do takeout.

Enjoyed 4 meals via pick-up option. Our 1st visit here. 2 adults, 1 adult with dietary restrictions, & 1 child in our party. Came in around 3 pm; restaurant was not crowded. Curtained windows, a small indoor pond feature, & subtle blue lighting helped create a soothing atmosphere. Peaceful, soft music was playing and the temperature was slightly cool versus the hot outdoors.

Overall, this place is great. Its clean and the chefs are extremely entertaining, but I went there yesterday for my sons birthday and asked the waitress three times to sing to my son for his birthday and she kept on telling me ok and then she gave us the check without even asking us if we wanted to dessert or to acknowledge my sons birthday. It was like they were rushing us out the door, even though the place was empty.

Request joe! He was such a good time. The food here is EXCELLENT! its BYOB and there’s a liquor store right next store. This is not your regular hibachi place everything is so delicious. They even have sushi.

Pricer than Masa but the quality of sushi is most definitely worth it. The gyoza was to die for; the sauce paired with it was delicious. The soup and salad combo with 2 or 3 rolls of sushi for $13 or $15 ish is a steal and a bonus to going. Their nonrice rolls are different and taste decent but not worth the price in reality. The Kani salad had no spice or anything, so it was average at best, nothing to rave about. The presentation of the dishes is beyond beautiful. The colored wraps are soy paper!

Kobe is the old Mahzu in Aberdeen. We went to Kobe the first week they had taken over from Mazhu, and sad to say it was a disaster. But Im happy to say if you went then as well, things have drastically changed – for the better. They redesigned the entire inside with a “Fusion” look. New tables and chairs and neon lights. All the waitresses were very nice, attentive and brought out the food as ordered. The presentation of the food was spectacular. And most importantly, the food was excellent.

Kobe is my favorite sushi and hibachi place because of the amazing food and great service. The food is so flavorful and delicious. It’s my go-to place for celebrations and birthdays. I have so many great memories there from all the times I’ve eaten there and I can’t wait to eat out at Kobe again!

We have lived in Matawan for 4 years and i have not been here until tonight. It will definitely be a regular visit going forward. Not only was the food excellent, but what really stood out over that, was the staff. This was the first time trying to dine out with our 3 year old and not only was everyone nice, but they were so accommodating and caring. When our waitress brought drinks and i asked our daughter to say thank you, our waitress helped to encourage her to say it before handing the water. When my daughter was worried the soup would be too hot, our waitress brought her ice for her soup. I wish we got her name but she was wonderful and not the only one! When we left, our daughter was hugging them all. We will no doubt be back. Thank you Kobe and staff!
