The kalua pork is smoky and tender. The north shore fried chicken was crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. They let me combine white and brown rice and their Mac salad tasted homemade, not like it came from a carton. Their lava cake was also a delicious end to the meal. Not too sweet with a tropical flavor. Prices were comparable to other similar restaurants. The vibe was definitely island chill with the music and decor. Complaints? The straw was too short for the large drink – seriously that’s all I’ve got in the complaints department 🙂

Came here with family and I was pleasantly surprised! It looks like any chain restaurant, but the food was pretty good. We had a katsu sandwich, a plate with katsu chicken and kalua pork, and a bowl of poke. The sandwich had an entire katsu cutlet on it and was full of flavor and juices, and the sauces on it were great. The plate was fine by comparison, the sliced katsu was dry compared to the one on the sandwich, and the pork wasn’t too exciting. The poke was nicely seasoned and had a bit of spice to it, and tasted fresh. As far as a chain Hawaiian place goes, this is a good option.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The ambience was fun and reminded me of my visit to Hawaii, the service was friendly, and the food was good.

Staff was friendly and super helpful for our first time in. Food was good (though I’ve had better mac salad at other places), especially enjoyed the lava cake for dessert. My sister did wish that they had more sauces other than soy.

Was staying in a nearby hotel and wanted to try something different. I tried the 3 meat combo with Katsu, pulled pork, teriyaki chicken with rice and pasta salad. Everything was awesome. I ate half and my son ate the rest. Katsu and pulled pork was my favourite. The teriyaki chicken was abit dry or would’ve given it 5stars. I would still recommend highly

Massive portions, I’ll be eating this for the rest of the week. Brown rice was delicious, teriyaki steak was so tender. The Mac salad had too much pepper (not as creamy as mo’bettas) but the value was awesome.

Had a great experience at my first visit at Kokonut Island Grill tonight and got to sample some great food off the menu. The location is easy to get to, well lit, good music, well staffed so you don’t wait in line long. They had some unique and personal touches to the food that really sets them apart from other island/Hawaiian food in the valley: they season the Terry beef with sesame seeds and mac salad with scallions after being plated, and add an orchid to your plate which almost takes me back to Hawaii 🙂 Positive vibes all around! I had the katsu chicken and teriyaki beef plate and loved it! Best Terry beef I’ve had in the mainland for sure!! Sampled my friend’s pulled pork nachos and they were really yummy, great homemade chips and I plan to get that next time with some Terry beef.

I must’ve received the last “half scoop” of the their pot…. Literally shocked at how small the portions were. The bigger tray was their $19 plate and the smaller was their $11 plate. (See pictures). Plus they charged a 4% service fee when I ordered online. Heads up if you’re looking here to base trying a new restaurant.
