Hilton is all about promises and not full-filling them. Service was horrible. Food was so expensive and mediocre. Asked the server(that didn’t want to be there) if the portion of the wings were decent and she said it would be enough to feed two. 6 little pigeon wings for $24. Save your money and go somewhere else.

The Kona Tap Room inside the Hilton Waikaloa Village is a nice spot to relax, have a drink, and/or a snack. The focus is on the Kona Brewing Company beers. There is also a nice food selection. We got to see live music two nights in a row with a nice little stage. Table service was a little slow, but you can always go to the bar and get your drinks.

Casual restaurant at the Hilton Waikoloa village which opens at 4:30 pm. There was a small but nice outdoor patio outside and an island, bar-style atmosphere inside. Table service was friendly enough. We had the chicken wings, poke nachos, and fries. The wings were pretty good but the poke nachos were a little off. An ok place to grab a beer or drink before or after dinner but I wouldn’t recommend making plans to eat here unless your strapped for places to go.

Such a fun place to unwind. So happy we decided to try. Initially we were worried would be more expensive on property, but it was comparable to other local places. The bartender (we often sat at the bar) Irene was super friendly, offering suggestions for local places to visit. Discovered my new favorite drink = lava flow!!

They are clearly short staffed, that is a shame and I imagine stressful on the staff. But it was very frustrating trying to flag someone down to just understand if we could get food. This and the Italian restaurant were the only places still open. We wasted our time just trying to talk to someone to understand if we would be able to order food, and by the time the gray haired older lady bartender rudely told us off the Italian restaurant was almost closed.

Walked right in and ate. Got the poke nachos and they were great. Very pricey, as expected in a resort. Live music added to the experience.

By far the worst service I have had at any hotel bar! In the world! Also the limited menu is very pricey for food solely cooked in a microwave. I would highly recommend any other spot on the property.

Kona Tap Room is a laid back bar and restaurant on the resort grounds. It was our first stop after putting our luggage in our room. The bartender and servers were awesome. The space was set up to allow for social distancing between tables. Being on resort, their prices were high, but the food was good and drinks strong. 15 bucks for a Mai Tai seemed to be the going rate on the island. It appeared that live entertainment might once been there, because there’s a stage. This is a good spot for a quick bite after being out all day.

Located in Hilton Waikoloa village, it’s got limited food and drinks. We didn’t make reservations, and waited about 40 minutes for a table so not too bad. Social distancing was still in effect so it was limited seating that’s why the longer wait. Nice setting with TVs everywhere. Ordered the mahi-mahi tacos Mai Tai and mango martini. Our waitress was great and made good suggestions on what to get. The drinks were good food was average though. It’s a good place to hangout and end the night but not for dinner.

I have spent many years working in the restaurant industry in Hawai’i. It is a major contributor of financial income to the islands of Hawai’i. My husband is an active duty service member serving in the U.S. Navy. During his travels, he always requests to stay at a Hilton. He loves the services and amenities provided. Having said that, Irene at the Kona Tap Room is hands down the rudest server I have ever experienced. She rolled her eyes at us when we made requests that were out of her capabilities. She recited antiquated policies regarding the alcohol stacking laws in Hawai’i. It is now my understanding that the laws are county specific. However, I was unaware of this policy as I remember when it changed in Oahu. A simple courtesy explanation of these rules would have sufficed. Yet, Irene rolled her eyes after she asked me if I did not like my beer and if I was planning to finish it. Shortly after, I caught her complaining about us to a young blonde haired server who was looking at us throughout the whole rant session. As humans, we all understand when someone is talking about us. When I said Miss Irene, you don’t have to talk about us anymore we’re leaving, she never once denied it. Instead she asked how we intended to pay our tab. Mind you, we had not insulted her or been unkind to her. Actually my husband had given her a $20 tip for simply breaking a $20 bill to tip the live musician. Her behavior and attitude were 100% unwarranted or deserved. One would wonder if negative experiences much similar to this are the reason this establishment does not have great reviews.
