The original owner, Mr. Ramirez was a very nice man. A few times I debated with him about politics. He thought I was just a stupid kid who did not know what she was talking about – and he was probably right. He put up with me because I’m Cuban, and we all gravitate toward each other, being that there are so few of us in Alabama. Mr. Ramirez may be gone now, but his classic Cuban sandwiches live on! They are the best!

I don’t understand the 1 stars here. The owner and Family are Cuban. As a Jamaican, I cook “authentic” Jamaican food with the understanding that no two cooks will make food the same way. At any rate, I frequented the ATL location and, to this day, compared Cuban sandwiches to Kool Korners. I’m happy to hear you guys are still open and making awesome sandwiches. I’ll stop in next time I’m in Birmingham. It was worth waiting in a line a couple blocks long as I remember it.
