KYOTO SUSHI JAPANESE RESTAURANT is hands-down the best sushi and hibachi value in the metro area. It’s one of the first indications that Minnesota sushi restaurants are starting to compete with each other on price points, which is great news for those of us who would love to stuff our faces with raw fish daily. The all-you-can-eat lunch and dinner buffets are inexpensive and include everything from super white tuna nigiri and rainbow rolls to soba noodle soups and salmon teriyaki rice. We suggest you enjoy this place before they realize they are essentially giving their sushi away.

My daughter took me out for my birthday lunch. This was my first time at Kyoto’s. We had the all you can eat option. The food was well prepared and presented. We tried some of several types of food on the menu. I was surprised at the bang for my buck. Highly recommended. The Snow mountain roll and the tempura squid were very tasty. I enjoyed the BBQ ell fried rice as well.

The sushi came out very quick here. Hot items definitely took longer. The portions were nice for the all you can eat menu. It allowed us to try a lot of items. For the all you can eat price though, the food quality was simply not worth it. For $100 the two of us could have filled up on better tasting sushi elsewhere.

We were in the mood for sushi and the restaurant we planned to go to was closed, so we looked for others and found this one. We arrived and were seated, but after a seemingly long time of not being greeted by a server or given a glass of water, I asked the host if a server was assigned to our table. He went and got her, and from then on, service was okay. My real concern about this experience was what we got for the price (a well over $100 meal for two after tax and tip). If this sushi meal had been a $12.99/person deal at one of the buffet places, I’d have thought it was fine, but it is not what I expect when I pay for what should be especially good sushi at a place known for sushi. When it is over $33 per person, it is just unacceptable. We have eaten at other Kyoto Sushi locations in the past and thought they were fine, so I don’t know what happened here. The food wasn’t bad; it just wasn’t as good as it should have been for the price. The appetizers and other non-sushi items we ordered were okay, but not outstanding. The atmosphere was a bit too loud for our taste. Sushi places shouldn’t be loud. We certainly won’t go back to this location, and with known better options, we will be hesitant to go to any Kyoto Sushi location after this.

Honestly I cannot really recommend this restaurant for almost any of the dishes. If you were to dine in here, all you can eat is the only viable option. The food simply isn’t appealing enough over other options (like Hajime).

The sushi here is off the carts. We arrived and only had a 15 min wait, which was great. We ordered several rolls, and they were brought pretty fast. Overall taste was excellent! Will be coming back soon.

I never had issues in the past, but for some reason today, my waiter looked like he purposely ignored me and my group. Helped others behind and next to us. My cup of water was empty for 45mins. Maybe it’s just my luck but I wouldn’t come here again. Come on brother.

I live near here so this place is good for quick bites. However the menu has changed over time and now the all you can eat option is not even worth it because it’s too basic. The sashimi option was taken out. The donburi are all small serving sizes so if you like that, you may need to ask for 4 of them. I’d rather make the drive elsewhere with a better menu. Service was good though.

Very accommodating to guests!! We came in 30 minutes prior to closing (I thought they closed at 11pm because i read the hours wrong) however, they still took us in and let us stay after hours. Our server was My and she was so sweet! Prices are reasonable as well, the bill turned out to be less than I expected. I definitely recommend!
