We were fortunate to find this place after spending the afternoon on the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive. Even more fortunate that they took as walk-ins on a busy Saturday night. I had the duck and my partner had the trout. Both were fabulous. Our server, Kate if I remember well, could not have been more helpful or nice. We’re always happy when the service matches the food. We were visiting TC from Italy and here we felt as if we were back in Europe eating an exquisite meal in a nice countryside setting. If you’re in the TC area we highly recommend this restaurant.

We enjoyed our third dinner at this fine restaurant and look forward to many more. The service is excellent, the food is divine, and the wine list has a wonderful variety. The proprietors are lovely and it’s a joy to get to chat with them! This is definitely my go-to spot for an incredible dining experience in the Traverse City area.

Took the family here for birthday gathering and it was a great experience. The staff was very attentive and the owner was very accommodating. Everyone at the table enjoyed their dishes, which can be tough to win everyone over, so that was an accomplishment. They had a nice selection of wines and drinks. They served a birthday cake that was WONDERFUL, and was an excellent finale to the meal. If we are in that area again we will be sure to make reservations again. Well done.

Who knew you’d be able to find quaint, classic and unbelievably crafted french cuisine in a small restaurant on the side of the road off of Glen Lake? We took our teens children (who are very open to trying new things) and they loved their meals. Not a place where there’d be many kids esp at that price point, but it wasn’t odd and the staff were wonderful! Escargot and tomato tart appetizers were tasty. All entrees were perfection. Desserts were interesting, esp the chocolate cake in phyllo. Overall, a fantastic experience. Food speaks for itself!

I waited at least 4-5 years to finally make this drive for a gourmet restaurant weekend and perhaps I had expectations too high. The pros first:

Phenomenal food from start to finish. Every course was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.

The food was bland and expensive for what we received. The main, the duck, was $45 dollars. This included a duck breast and a duck leg, along with a little sweet potato square and steamed vegetables. The breast was overcooked (despite the waiter asking for our preferred doneness and us ordering medium rare). The sweet potato was the highlight of the dish. The steamed vegetables were a head scratcher. No seasoning — just a scoop of steamed vegetables for $45.

Before coming here, I’ve only ever had French food in France. La Becasse was an amazing experience. The food and atmosphere made me reminisce of my time in Giverny. The waitstaff was also great. Anyone looking for a French experience in Northwestern Michigan needs to pay La Becasse a visit.

Une petite étoile dans le nord du michigan! We loved every bite and had a wonderful conversation with Chef Guillaume after dinner. Perfect food and service in the cutest little restaurant! We felt like we were in France again.

Absolutely phenomenal experience. As others have stated, it’s impossible to find anything less than exquisite on this menu. Chef Guillaume is very personable and relaxed, taking the time to really chat with you if you want to. But the star of the show is the food, and everything is done with care, attention to detail, and decades of conscious taste and fine technique. A gem in northern Michigan. The interior is homey and cozy, but if the weather is nice you should sit outside, the location is beautiful and it really added to our experience. Lovely professional and friendly wait staff as well.
