What a beautiful day it was. Took 2 of my friends to see The Sagamore. They had some beverages, sat outside, taking in the air, the grounds and the surrounding landscape. They enjoyed it so much they wanted to stay for dinner. Reservations were tight, but they were able to accommodate us. Food was excellent as it always is. They will be back.

If I could select zero stars, I would do so. We went to celebrate a birthday at Bella Vita, and emerged tired, disappointed and angry. Once we were seated, we were given one cocktail menu for six people. We called the waiter over and asked for more menus. We eventually received one more, rather than the appropriate number for the table. The same happened with something as basic as butter, where we again had to ask and wait for enough butter for 6 people. We placed our drink order, and when the drinks came, one of them was not correct. These three steps took over 30 minutes. At this point, one of us went to speak to the host. We asked to either get a new waiter or be switched to another table. We also reminded him that there was a request for a birthday candle with dessert, and pointed out the person in our party who was celebrating. The host stared blankly and did nothing to address the service situation as the waiter continued to disappear frequently. As a result, the meal took over 3 hours, despite having an elderly person with us who was so tired by the end, she could barely walk. Of course, we all would have found the lengthy wait easier to tolerate if the food was wonderful. Sadly, it was not. The fish was dry, the meat was bland and tasteless. Dirty, used dishes and glasses remained uncleared through dessert. When we placed our dessert order, the waiter, rather than bringing the birthday celebrant’s dessert with a lit candle, asked him if he wanted a candle. So much for a surprise! At no time did the host come over to our table to see if the service had improved. Nor was the atmosphere helped by the presence of a large dog in the dining room, and unsupervised children running around. We have been fortunate enough to eat at some of the finest restaurants in New York, and the idea that this restaurant cost more than some Michelin-starred dining establishments would almost be funny, if it wasn’t such a total failure. Everyone in our party left feeling dispirited. On our way out, the host again missed an opportunity to rescue the evening and said nothing to us. Just a terrible, terrible experience from start to finish. Save your money and spend it anywhere else. The hospitality, the food, and the service are bound to be better.

Sad and disappointing experience. Were it not for the view, the reheated overpriced frozen Sysco food that is served would be unacceptable at a greasy diner. After sitting down we noticed water dripping on the table. Looking up was a long vent with condensed water and black mold which was over a line of perhaps 12 tables. When asked to move and they replied that they would just take care of it. Apparently they intended to use the mold ridden extended mop over our table while we remained seated. Dismayed but remaining pleasant we all stood up and said, “we will switch tables so please do your thing”. We switched and they sat another unsuspecting group there. The new table seemed fine and we ordered. The food then took 100 minutes to come out and our party of 4 was served at different times. They then apologized saying the kitchen was backed up, yet the place was about 1/2 full. Clearly they lost our order. But all during that time our server seemed to not notice and did nothing to alleviate the situation such as bringing over bread or even water. The room appeared to be in complete disarray and staff completely lacked any training. There were no standards of service that were visible at any time throughout the room. The food itself when it did arrive was very underwhelming. Just blah. At these prices one would expect a chef prepared meal and not a reheated frozen entree. Just awful. To top it off there was a family eating nearby that clearly thought they were in their own home. We even witnessed them yelling at staff. If negative stars were available I would give them a minus 2.

It looked nice, the views were pleasant, the food was average while being pricey.

Food was so below average. Halibut was dry. Pizza was forgettable. Chicken saltimbocca was also dry and overcooked. Balsamic Brussels sprouts was the best thing on the table. The service was excellent but the overall experience subpar. Unfortunately all too often venues with multimillion dollar views take their captive audience customers for granted.

We ordered an egg sandwich ($18), eggs benedict ($20) and 2 cups of coffee and it was $45.00. The egg sandwich was on a bagel with scrambled eggs and was no better than a Dunkin Donuts breakfast sandwich, the eggs benedict was sup-par and the coffee was awful. The view was nice. We will NEVER go back there for breakfast. There is a little shop in town that has an egg sandwich for $8 and it looked so much better than what we had.

My wife and I had such a terrible experience at this restaurant. We were very excited to try this restaurant since all reviews were mostly positive. My wife ordered a Margarita pizza and I had ordered the pasta Bolognese and asked the waiter not to put cheese on my pasta for I am allergic to Dairy. When the pasta came out, you can clearly see that there was melted cheese mixed in it, when I told the waiter, he took my plate and came back saying that there was no cheese in the plate when AGAIN you can see cheese. Now I am not the type to ever send my food back so I already felt uncomfortable asking but requested that My meal be changed to the steak instead and asked for Medium rare. Once my steak finally came out it was raw in the center and at this point we just wanted to leave.

La Bella Vita Ristorante is located in the beautiful resort, Sycamore, that overlooks Lake George in Bolton. Parking is free and when the weather is nice, you can eat outside. Even in the winter, they had a heated, covered patio available. The restaurant is so beautiful. It’s worth coming just for the views. The prices are typical of NYC prices.

This place is gorgeous, everyone is beautiful. But at the end of the day, I still payed $30+ for chicken parmesan that tasted OK and was visibly rushed. Our dinning experience was underwhelming. We were promised early ordering for our 3 toddlers which they quickly forgot about, we had to leave our table with them to entertain them outside while we waited. Buy, it’s still gorgeous 🙂
