A few colleagues and I grabbed dinner at La Bise while in DC for work. I got the salad, sea bass and dessert. Every dish was delicious. I found myself admiring my boss’ Spanish octopus, which according to her, was also delicious. The service was amazing! The waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu, which unfortunately seems to be a rarity. The reservation was under my name, and the maître d’ made a concerted effort to acknowledge me by name. Needless to say, I will return.

The filet mignon was probably the best I’ve ever had. Must have something to with the chef’s unique preparation, which I believe is sous vide. The duck was very tasty and all the other appetizers and desserts were, too. Abdul was the highlight of the meal, delivering exceptional service and wine pairings (along with the sommelier) to match the fabulous dishes.

So good!! Had an incredible Thanksgiving meal here. The cocktails were unique and tasty. The service was impeccable and beyond professional! The food was delicious but not overly heavy. The presentation was skillful. After dinner it was nice to have a walk through Lafayette park.

To preface, the beef tartar and wine was good. We got the octopus which was rubbery, and then we ordered the duck medium. What came out was definitely rare, to the point where we could barely chew or even cut with a knife. Not wanting to be charged $42 for raw poultry that we couldn’t eat resulted in the staff insisting multiple times that the duck was cooked properly, and said we should have asked them to throw it in the oven and give it back to us (which would just make it dry and chewier). They ended up taking it off the bill but our server brought the check back with an attitude that was off putting. Apart from being undercooked, the duck was crusted with whole, crunchy Szechuan peppercorns, and there was a sweet orange foam on top of unseasoned potatoes. Just a bizarre dish really.

Birthday dinner for daughter’s boyfriend. Started with cocktails at the bar with a friendly, experienced bartender (Thomas). In the dining room, service was smooth and pleasant (Abdool). Appetizers and entrees were as attractive and creative as they were delicious. Desserts were a also on point. Wine list could use some attention.

A very nice place for a fancy night out! The atmosphere of the restaurant is pleasant. The serving staff are friendly and approachable. Service speed was well paced. The food was amazing, I had the salmon and my friend the beans with sausage. We also had the pear tart and dark chocolate mousse for dessert. All the food was delicious and worth the price in my opinion. They do seem to have a set menu so I wouldn’t recommend this place for small children. The restaurant has a mature vibe to it and the dress code leans towards the nicer side. Overall, a lovely dining experience and a place I would come back to
