Came in with high hopes, most of the food was very good. The tofu tacos my wife ordered the tofu didn’t have any flavor at all, just fried with no seasonings. The salsa nothing special. Atmosphere was really nice and the service was also good.

This is the first restaurant I ate right up the road from the new house that I just bought. The food was delicious! The salsa needs some help and some work. It just kind of doesn’t have enough spice. But the food was amazing. I would have given it five stars had it not been for the salsa. Also it’s got a really cool atmosphere and vibe.

My wife Pam wanted to go to Hobby Lobby in Marshalltown yesterday and suggested we try the La Carreta Mexican Restaurant, we’re very happy we did. Before retiring from Alliant Energy I have heard nothing but good things about this restaurant but not living in Marshalltown we just never got around to trying it, that’s all changed now. From the moment we entered we were made to feel like family, the gal who served us was off the charts awesome, very helpful, cheerful and attentive and knowledgeable about their offerings, we couldn’t ask for more. Our order came quickly and way exceeded our expectations in deliciousness and at a very reasonable price. This was an exceedingly good eating experience, from beginning to end. Can’t wait to return for more, between the two of us a four thumbs up and my coveted cleaned plate award.

food was definitely not authentic Mexican. very under seasoned & the drinks were pretty meh. if youve had real mexican food id definitely skip this place. other than that the service was good. the employees are hard working and they made the experience good!! 5 stars for the employees. food and margs were so not worth it!!

Amazing service, we have a family of 6 and they delivered big time! We traveled 3 hours for a sports event and our 4 kids were more than ready to eat. We couldn’t have picked a better spot! Delicious food, pleasant staff. We come back to this area every year and are looking forward to returning already next year.
