We met family here on Sun for lunch at 12 PM. The place was packed inside and out and we had to park on the grass. We had reservations and was seated immediately. After waiting 15 min, the waitress took our drinks and our bread orders. It was real loud inside and all the waitresses seem stressed. They seem to always be in a rush going back and forth to the kitchen. After we received our drinks and bread, it took another 45 min or so to receive our food. All the meals were very good but we were on-the-fence about the Northern Italian style lasagna. The meatballs and fresh made pasta were excellent. The house salad was very fresh and we loved the homemade bread. We did have to ask for refills on our drink several times and had to wait a while to receive our tab. The couple next to us waited 15 min or more to get their tab after they finished eating. It may be more relaxing to eat outside.

You have to go to Italy for better. The homemade noodles melt in your mouth. The lasagna was the best I have had since Florence. We discovered a true gem out in Johnson County. La Cucina, a Matteo family restaurant by reservation only. Authentic Italian food made by hand. Home-made pasta, ciabatta, and desserts. Small, only 24 seats. Started with Caprese, Misto, then Lasagna and Shrimp Puttanesca.. BYOW/$5 Cork. Nice desserts to end.

Finest gluten free dishes anywhere!! Our gluten free dishes tasted just as great as the regular dishes ordered. I was the taster, not my wife. Chef said the pasta was brown rice flour imported from Tuscany. Wonderful atmosphere with a freshly prepared meal from a Master Chef. Bravo!! Remember cash and reservations are necessary.

This was my first time in Mountain City. A local resident brought us here for dinner! Highly recommend the lasagna, ravioli, salad, antipasto, and bread. We were served family style and tasted a bit of everything. Delicious! Friendly owner/chef and servers!

In rural Appalachia, this is easily the closest to authentic Italian cuisine one will find. The lasagna is a must-try menu item, but just about every other dish is sure to leave one satisfied. You don’t want to leave without trying at least one of their desserts as well.
