I’ve been a patron of this deli on and off for 7 or 8 years. It has gone through many iterations through those years. Sometimes the food has been great; sometimes average, but the atmosphere has mostly been kind of dark and uninviting for the non-Latino. The prime clientele of La Familia are the working class Latinos from the many work and repair shops that surround the area. Those folks speak Spanish and thus the ladies that serve them speak Spanish as well, so if that makes you uncomfortable I don’t know what to say.

This place is a great spot for lunch- the portions are great for the price. My platter of pepper steak with rice and sweet plantains cost me about $10 and lasted me for lunch and dinner. Staff is super kind and the restaurant can get understandably very busy around lunch time. They have a ton of variety as well, i definitely plan on coming here regularly!

Unless you speak Spanish the customer service here is absolute garbage. Was holding off a review until now for the benefit of the doubt, but this has happened numerous times. Quality-wise the food is great whenever it does come out but they people working at this establishment are completely partial to certain customer base. I don’t suggest wasting your time unless you have time to waste.

Visited one year ago with my daughter. We Ordered yellow rice and stew chicken . The rice was disappointing. It was undercooked. Never went back again. Don’t people taste food when they are cooking it? Uncooked rice is an easy fix. Add water and lower heat, keep lid on pot and continue cooking

ordered from here a few weeks ago, the beef stew was tasty but the meat was dry and overcooked, there was one small piece of carrot & potatoe, waaaaayyyy too much rice and beans, they didnt include the sweet plantains either. plus i asked for extra gravy on the meal, they didnt do as i asked. and they put the salad on top of the whole meal, which is disgusting!

Seems to me that they’re inconsistent with their prices. 3 times they charge me for more money on the same food selection I ordered. The server was rude and didn’t give any explanation about why she’s charging more. Never again.

They do not write on their menu a specific amount needed to delivery. On the menu is written “free delivery and take out”. False advertisement if no amount is placed. Also when asked how much is the minimum she said “um $20” like she made it up. I used to love this place but they need to be more clear about their policies
