I’ve been wanting to come here as it’s practically across the street but hadn’t gotten to until now. It’s not like other places where you sit and wait to be served. You walk in, get your food, and then you sit with your food on hand if they don’t have to replenish. If not, then you have to wait for it. The food was delicious, and my non Latino friend enjoyed it more than me.

Food was ok, not very flavorful but very expensive. We paid $15 for one serving of pork with a side if rice and beans, $11 for a chicken breast with rice and cassava, $8 for a small serving of mofongo. We can go to a much nicer restaurant for those kind of prices. Place needs a major renovation.

Have been there a few times. I’ve had Mofongo, pasteles, alcapurrias, rice, pernil. All very good. Owner is friendly and helpful. I agree, sometimes the food could use more seasoning. Overall, will go back.

Absolutely disgusting. I won’t even say disgusting, it was actually not edible. I was starving too so I basically would have eaten anything. We just picked it up and I opened it up and saw what is pictured in the first image. Literally one piece of meat cut into two small pieces. I was able to fashion together a sandwich half out of both sides of the sandwich, but you can see there still wasn’t a good amount of meat for a $11 sandwich (no sides included). Again, at this point I was so hungry I didn’t even care that they shorted me on food. When I went to take my first bite I actually thought that I broke my front teeth. The meat in the entire thing was so tough I couldn’t actually bite through ANY of the pieces. The last image is my attempt at actually eating it…which failed. Needless to say, it was beyond disappointing. (Also they were really rude to the person who picked it up.)

The owner is awesome! Super friendly!! The food is amazing!!! The setting is very modest and casual. People on here saying “it’s too expensive”…that is NOT TRUE AT ALL. Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than McDonald’s. HOWEVER… The quality of food is on par with all the big name places in Tampa and Ybor City. In addition to that one plate will serve two (or EVEN THREE) people. THIS HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE BEST KEPT SECRETS IN TAMPA BAY!!!
