Went to La Mai today for lunch, and it hit the spot.. my friend recommended La Mai as I wanted something vegetarian, so ended up ordering the Summer Roll, Mango Curry with Tofu, and Giner Orange with Tofu. The summer roll tasted very fresh, there was so much flavor with a slight kick to the mango curry, and the ginger orange was all in all hearty. Plus the owner (I presume) was great — fantastic service and friendly. I’d highly recommend La Mai.

I wish I could rate them better. The server was nice, she made sure to let me know that the tofu was in fact tofu and not chicken. I really appreciated that assurance because it did look like chicken. But, to my disappointment, I don’t love the tough type of tofu that they served. Along with that, I think I just ordered the wrong thing. The pictures of their food look so good, but I got noodles and they were a bit disappointing. Drowning in a sweet sauce, and not many vegetables and the too-tough tofu. Big portions. They do good marketing! But I just wish the the food was better.

This cart is excellent. The vegan options are some of the best my family has had in the area. The orange ginger chicken(or tofu for the vegans in our family) is my absolute favorite. Don’t leave without the mango sticky rice. We go here a ton, and never leave disappointed!

Absolutely delicious!! I got the dumplings which I haven’t been able to eat dumplings in YEARS, since I have celiac. Very savory and soft! I also got the coconut shrimp. Again, something I haven’t had in years and years! SO GOOD. So crispy and perfect! Also I got the Ginger Orange Chicken. YUM! Huge portions and very tasty! Not too sweet, but just perfect and very fresh tasting. Last but definitely not least was the Black Sticky Rice with Purple Taro Pudding and Taro Pieces on top! Oh man. I haven’t had a dessert this tasty in forever! It is not too sweet like a lot of American desserts can be but it definitely is sweet enough to be a dessert! Also a very large portion and one of the best things I’ve probably ever tasted, ever. Sweet, sticky, tarp flavored, with perfect crispy taro pieces on top? Amazing! All over is an amazing place to go.

This place is the best cart to eat at in PDX, period. The curry puffs are the best I’ve ever eaten in my entire life- not to mention you cannot go wrong with a dish named after the cart (La Mai Noodle). Don’t fret if the wait is 20-30 mins, it is worth it all the way. Cha (cart owner) is STELLAR
