I was smelling the tortillas all morning and they smelled like grandmas!. So lunch rolls around and I knew this would be the place to eat and glad I stopped by being that it has been decades since I last ate here. I am a taco fanatic and try them everywhere I go. La Mexicana’s taco’s were some of the best I have ever ate. Add the salsa to it and it takes it to another level. The beans and rice were just like g-mas. Sooo goood!! Don’t even need honey with the sopa. And for the price, it was a pretty filling meal. Don’t second guess this place cause it just might catch you by surprise.

Very Disappointing. I’ve been following La Mexicana to all of their previous locations since before I had kids and I’m 62. I read on Facebook they were having staff problems and closing the indoor dining until after the holidays. So of course I had to go there. I bought a half dozen tamales yesterday. My first one was a red sauce with very little meat and the second one had chopped not shredded pork and no Chile. I warmed another 2 today and they were all masa with very little meat. See pictures. I hope this gets resolved and they get a handle on their standards and quality of food.

Their breakfast burritos are delicious! Probably the best I’ve had anywhere in ABQ. Very reasonable price too. They’re always friendly and the patio is nice. There are even a few cats that will come say hello.

Best place ever. Amazing traditional New Mexican cuisine (grandma style), incredibly sweet staff, and they have these cute little cats that come hang out on the patio outside. Makes me feel like I’m in Mexico lol I love this place!

Very delicious food. I don’t like a lot of restaurant tamales, but these are basically just like my family’s but bigger. They make their own chips, taco shells and tostadas, along with flour and corn tortillas (yellow, white, blue). Tacos are similar to Perico’s style (fried up to order). Both the red and green chile taste like they should.

Are you looking for amazing New Mexican food? Step into to La Mexican restaurant & tortilla company. Walk into this small and cozy place and you’ll be delighted with its sweet smell oh good food. It’s so great that you can almost taste their sweet wedding cookies, tamales and Chile. The staff is friendly and the place super clean. Today I had their chicken enchiladas!

You can tell this is a place that locals love. They were very busy today (lunch time on a Friday near downtown) so there was a longer wait for the food than I expected. However, everyone was talking and enjoying themselves and catching up on neighborhood gossip. The food was delicious when it did come, and had very generous portions! Indoor and outdoor seating.
