Stroll along 17th St., between Lighthouse and Laurel and you will find one of the Peninsula’s favorite spots, La Mia Cucina. This little jewel, with its fresh ambiance and tantalizing menu, is popular with everyone. The colorful European advertising posters that enliven the walls, are “originals, not reproductions.” That phrase is accurate in describing La Mia Cucina itself. From the comfortable linen white decor, accented beautifully by those turn-of-the-century posters, to the hand-crafted entrees and desserts, everything about La Mia Cucina says fresh and original. Owner Michael’s specialty, his ravioli dishes, are a renowned local favorite, and for good reason.
This 11-table bistro ups its elegance factor with white tablecloths & homemade pasta. Based on 293 reviews, the restaurant has received a rating of 4.7 stars. Price $$

My family has been coming to this restaurant for years and it’s consistently excellent. The owners and staff are friendly and attentive. The owner’s, Paula and Michael greet us with warm hugs and smiles, and the staff soothe the soul. My mother can’t wait for the delicious warm brownie topped with ice cream, blueberries and strawberries – it is definitely the “cherry on top”.

The staff here is amazing. The hostess was very accommodating even when we did not have reservations – she went out of her way to find us a table. The servers are very nice and friendly. Service was a bit slow, probably because there were large groups dining that day. The food is okay; the ingredients are nice but this is American-Italian, not Italian food.

This was such a great experience. Paula was as nice as can be. Our waiter (he is from New Zealand) was perfect. When we left we felt like family. The food is out of this world. Everything about it was incredible. Highly recommend this place. We will be going back the next time we are in town.

Very nice room(s) with great service, though they could be little less pushy about asking if we were interested in more wine even though our glasses were half full. Had the crab/shrimp cake that was excellent, pasta with homemade sausage that was very good and the veal piccata that needed to be more tender and less sweet. Overall, a really nice experience with friendly people.

Lucky us! We were able to get in only because someone cancelled last minute. Delicious food, nice ambience, wonderful service. Started with their delicious focaccia bread, entree’s came with salad or soup. Hubby chose salad, I chose the chicken soup. Hubby had the most delicious freshly made gnocchi with 2 kinds of sauce. I chose the sand dabs. We celebrated his bday w/their strawberry dessert, delicious! Happy tummies 🙂

Definitely six stars!!! From the front end to the back end of the house, this quaint little Italian gem delivers flavor and service. We had the house salad, farfalle bolognese, and strawberry shortcake. My waistline is paying the price, but so worth it. Did I mention service? Their team was a well-oiled machine moving us from service to service seamlessly. Very friendly and so inviting. Thank you!
